That's great news! I always wonder why there aren't more NGOs that accept crypto for donations.
Seems easy enough to offer and I would think they want as many people to donate as possible. Makes sense to offer a lot of options.

Since you work there, do you have access to any statistics regarding how much has been donated with crypto?

I second this. I want to see the statistics of how much donations they have already received from crypto currencies only.

Or do they have the address for it to check out how much is in.
This could boost a lot of donator if ever they see a lot of people have been donating using the crypto process.

This makes it easy for coin owners to donate by accepting cryptocurrency coins as a payment method. I think this is good news and also things that have a positive impact on the survival of social life.
this is a good progress for bitcoin to be a new way of payment, as we can see that we can give the donation using the crypto and one day we can buy our groceries using crypto

Okay that is cool.
But for those who are really willing to donate using this process you might want to go directly to UNICEF.
Yes he says he is working there but there is no proof with that.
Just use google instead.

You are a little wrong. They also accept all tokens on Ethereum (ou tokens ERC20)

This is indicated in the list. It turns out they take thousands of currencies and believe in their future)

Accepting donations in a currency =/= believing in its future. I would call it a stretch to say that UNICEF "believes in the future" of all ERC20 tokens when the vast majority of them are trash.

I mean, I doubt they'd go through the trouble of accepting these things if they thought there was no future in them. There's no reason to go through the trouble of accepting cryptocurrency if you think it's a fad that will die in a year or two.

I was talking specifically about ERC20 tokens, not all cryptocurrencies. However, if you have an account with Binance or any other major altcoin exchange, it is trivial to accept most cryptos regardless of whether or not you believe in them. You can accept trash like BCH and scams like EOS, knowing full well you can immediately sell them for Bitcoin, which is actually worth something and which you can actually use. Same goes for the vast majority of ERC20 tokens.

I'm glad that one of the many trustable donations networks are accepting cryptocurrencies payments donations. It indirectly boosts the cryptocurrencies adoption since it can be used for humanity purpose. And also it a simple and fast way to make a donation without any difficulty.

I think this is great for UNICEF because maybe people will be more into donating this way than giving their normal money.

Thanks Eternalgloom ! For the moment it's not that much, and since you have the wallets to see on the donation page you can check directly and transparently how many was given so far in each crypto. But then again you are right, it would be even better to have a kind of gauge for each crypto for everyone to see quickly ! We will check on how to do that !

People here are having a hard time getting a decent profit because of the bear trend and I think donating to charities now is not a good time, well maybe when we all get have a good profit then why not, we can share all our blessings to those who are in need. Grin

Sharing is caring.  Kiss

Thanks Petes, that is true, but we didn't want to wait for the market to be bullish again to give that opportunity, beside there are still people that have made a lot of money and want change things with it and even people that didn't made a lot but still want to donate in that way, as it is a partisan kind of gift.

The ERC angle is what gladens my heart because it means tokens there will start appreciating. This is what has been waited for. Hopefully, we are going to see better days ahead of holders.

Yes we can do that if the news of accepting erc tokens is real.  Smiley

Thanks, Palle11. It is true you can give your ERC20 tokens on our ETH wallet since we use MyEtherWallet, don't hesitate Grin

Accepting donations in a currency =/= believing in its future. I would call it a stretch to say that UNICEF "believes in the future" of all ERC20 tokens when the vast majority of them are trash. But if they can sell them for Bitcoin or fiat, then sure, donate away.

They also provide links on that page so you can mine on their behalf.

 Wink Indeed o_e_l_e_o !

This is very nice for who just got profits from trading and want to give some for charity.
Sometimes we (crypto traders) want to do charity from our profit but too lazy to convert it to fiat. Thanks unicef Cheesy

ha ha Thank you !

Personally, I really appreciate with your effort and UNICEF France to accept donations in BTC and cryptocurrencies (ETH / ERC 20 Tokens). It seems UNICEF giving a good attention on crypto. This should be a good way to get more donations. Crypto enthusiasts also can participate easily by using BTC or ETH (ERC 20).

By the way, I see it is not first time UNICEF utilizes cryptocurrency for donation. At least, I read it in some articles: [...]

Wink True this is not our first step, but still have a lot to learn !

I mean, I doubt they'd go through the trouble of accepting these things if they thought there was no future in them. There's no reason to go through the trouble of accepting cryptocurrency if you think it's a fad that will die in a year or two.

True also, we do believe in the future of the technology, even if we don't believe in every token launched everyday.

Okay that is cool.
But for those who are really willing to donate using this process you might want to go directly to UNICEF.
Yes he says he is working there but there is no proof with that.
Just use google instead.

Totally agree again ! Don't trust anybody saying that he is UNICEF go to the official website with the little green lock in the navigation bar : https://www.unicef.fr
we already had scams saying they were UNICEF and will have again for sure !

This action of accepting bitcoin and other altcoins by UNICEF will indeed add credibility to cryptocurrencies and it make the task of donating funds easier and faster  I am optimisty other non governmental organizations NGOs will surely follow suit thus bringing the adoption of Cryptos into more limelight.

I think this is wonderful news for further mainstream adoption, and it helps dispel some of the idea that cryptocurrency is just for use by criminals and for criminal activity in the minds of the public.  Hopefully, we will see other non-profits and charitable organizations follow suit!

Definitely a good news. This was just another example of how bitcoin and several other crypto currencies are being accepted as a means of payment or donation. Soon, more will follow and eventually those who think that crypto currency is just a big joke will surely clearly see thr bright side of it.

you are right,
this is very good for cryptocurrencies in the future, it only takes time to make those who laugh at cryptocurrencies be interested in cryptocurrencies. cryptocurrencies will indeed have a bright future, and gradually in the future will be more and more people will be interested in it.

An institution of worldwide repute if accepts something like crypto usage of which is growing day by day; it is not only good for crypto but the institution itself too.  Crypto gets more advertisement and acceptability while UNICEF by doing so gets so many members of crypto world who really may want to donate for such noble cause.
UNICEF in other countries will also come forward now with accepting crypto.
IMO other institutions may also follow the trend and it will prove like rising sun for crypto world.

Yes, it should be that charities like UNICEF receive crypto as a means of donation, because it will still be useful and can be exchanged into fiat currency to be distributed to underprivileged people. this is good for the survival of the crypto industry to be more famous

It is not a surprised to see this kind of organization accepting cryptocurrency.

This enable them to accept donation from those cryptoenthusiast people who have a kind heart and a soft spot to those who are in need.  It is a great move indeed but why does it take you this long to think of accepting donation in cryptocurrency?

I visited the site but sad, I do not understand french language so I cannot send a feed back even if I wanted to.

I wise move then as charity donations and assistance will easily be send to that certain organization. This will make an another convenience options for the sponsors to send their aid instantly in which this also shows that Bitcoin can be also use in any humanitarian activities as long the welfare concerns will accept Bitcoin transactions.
