No offence, but ever since i registered into this forum i have been observing some trend in this forum regarding the rewarding of merit to deserving post. I read that forum members should not beg nor pm other people for merits but rather make quality post and merits would be given.

One thing that i have observed is that Legendary members award themselves high number of merits even to any ordinary reply by his/her colleague makes on a topic. i am not against awarding merits to each other if it is deserving but i am just saying it is quite unfair to reward a fellow Legendary member high number of merits for just an ordinary post when another member can make a whole lot of research and just receive some few number of merits.
Just check out this whole thread and consider critically how the merits are being given out
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2818350.0

For these two posts i just don't want to comment about it because it seems to me that, the rules are being broken for some people Undecided

I know someone may bring this arguement that any individual can give merit according to his/her discretion but the point is Legendary members are not ranking up to any further rank so why dash them that huge number of merits when there are other lower rank members who equally deserve to rank up with some quality post of theirs.
Let's all have a great week Cool

You have not done your homework properly. What I see is that those posts were from very early days of introducing the merit system. That time most of the people did not understand very well before they send merit to each others. I was not there that time however this is a guess using commonsense.

Merit does have a use to appreciate good quality posts, it's not just linked to ranking up. A good quality post does not have to be a very long and highly constructive. A single line comment could be a good post depending on the humor expressed on the comment.

You've been here a week, and every post you've made except this one is a one line shitpost.

The thread you linked to was the thread where merit was announced for the first time. In the first week or two after merit was created, it was given much more liberally because of the initial airdrop. You can quite clearly see this from the merit data graphs created by various members of the forum which I have no doubt you haven't looked at. Using that thread as an example is misleading at best. You can equally go in to any ANN thread and see newbies being merited for simply reporting their Facebook posts.

If you want to earn merits, try posting something a bit more insightful than:

Bitcoin would forever be the King of cryptocurrencies because though its price has reduced it still dominates the cryptocurrencies market.

Wtf, you just joined September 14, 2018, almost a week and your start complaining about merit and legendary member's. It's look to me you are one line poster except this thread. Jet Cash new title spambie appropriate for you.
You should concentrent to make quality post instated of make accusation.
the point is Legendary members are not ranking up to any further rank so why dash them that huge number of merits when there are other lower rank members who equally deserve to rank up with some quality post of theirs.

So they should send merit to shitposter ? Due they they don't have chance for further rank up. Merit deserve by post, not by rank. If you have constructive or useful post obviously you will get. Your rank isn't fact.

There is a big problem at the moment in this forum. Spambies seem to be desperate to scratch the odd merit, and they  don't use any creativity or research ability. Instead they seem to think that starting a thread with an over-posted topic is a good way to gain merit, so they make some trivial alteration or twist in a concept, and add that to an over-polluted board. Old established member ( ie. people who have been here for more than 6 months) are pretty fed up with wading through the flotsam and jetsam emanating from the passengers here. This is why you can see direct comments by TMAN being merited for example.

The spambies need to realise that their pollution of the boards is creating the situation, and increasing their disadvantages here.

We all know difference of tastes; difference of opinions; difference of judgments. It depends on knowledge levels too.   In the eyes of one person the opinion shared by someone may be not be good but the other person finding knowing some facts about the issue understands it better and makes his different opinion.
So if someone meriting post of other may be having higher level of knowledge and experience than us.
A judge of higher court may reverse the judgement of lower court because the higher court understands the issue on the basis of their own knowledge; facts and witnesses which the lower court could not.

Merit is given to an exemplary helpful and constructive posts and there is no exemption of awarding merits between ranks. It would be better if you try to posts something new that is unique and that could be taken a lesson for everyone here in the forum for sure it would rain merits for that post.

This is quite a funny post you have created. After one week you joined this forum and you have been able to make such observations. `Its very sad all your posts made on this forum expect this can be classified as shitpost.

What i see here about your post is not a concern but rather desperation. You have been here not long and I'm pretty sure it is your first time. Did you really take time before sending those two threads? If you did,you would have known it was an old system and therefore hardly apply of late. People decide to award you merits per their discretion. You may think you've written an "A" post but it may be shit to most people. Focus on making genuine and  thought provoking posts and you will gain merits from our superiors.

I believe the merit system is very fair and just. People who make constructive posts are being rewarded if only someone with enough merits sees your posts and it is worth meriting. Let us remember that merit is given when people think your post is relevant.

I think our newbies should take their time and understand the merit system very well. Merit is not mainly made for rank advancement, though it is one of the requirements. It was introduced to motivate quality posts and reduce spam on the forum. To whom the merit is given doesn't matter, a jnr. member can even decide to award merit to a legendary.
Once again, awarding a merit to a post is subjective, what may be relevant to you might be irrelevant to me. And also it could be that the fellow you are expecting to give merit to your post has exhausted all his sendable merits.
If you really want to grow on this forum...watch your words.

Merit was not created for rank improvement. In fact the reverse is true, as merit ws created to block upranking, and activity is the engine for rank improvement. Merit was created as a barrier to restrict the advancement of the unworthy. Unfortunately most of the unworthy are noisy pollutants, and as a result of their actions, advancement is slowed for the worthy but unnoticed.

Forum members who fulfill the requirements of having the right to receive MERIT depend on those who have SMERIT "high ranking members" by looking at the member posts that are appropriate for them even though for lower members it is only an ordinary post, because this is their progressive assessment and rights regardless of whether he does not need services / is also very much needed as a step to get a higher rank. because MERIT is an achievement not only a priority to raise the rank of members but is an award for those who post with good post quality

<...>
Of course they are abusing the Merit System ... but by writing content that is decent enough to be merited, and standing out above the immense majority of posts. Do they need the Merit? Well, it they want to enrol on any decent signature campaign they do nowdays, since these campaigns tend to apply a non-spam policy along with a baseline requirement of earned merit (non-airdropped). Merit has many connotations and one of them is laterally recognition, and no rank should be deprived of it.

You will always find counter-examples of just about everything, and merit awarded to posts you don’t see fit is no exception (specially back in the early days of the Merit System). But taking an overall bird’s eye view, the immense majority of merited high-ranked member posts will bring something to the table.

None taken, and you have been here for just too little time till now. Plus making a thread about merit in meta. You are not getting any merits for this. Grin

Quote

Life is unfair get used to it. If you still feel that its unfair you should leave the forum. Or you can try sending some "Merit Broke My Life! Halp Sir" PMs to theymos but Im not sure if you are going to get any reply at all.

Quote
I know someone may bring this arguement that any individual can give merit according to his/her discretion but the point is Legendary members are not ranking up to any further rank so why dash them that huge number of merits when there are other lower rank members who equally deserve to rank up with some quality post of theirs.
Because older members here put in some effort to make posts. It is beyond the comprehension of a tiny brained spammer who comes to the forum to spam for bucks but for those who care about the forum for them the good posts catch the eye even if the newbies try to make worthy posts because they have been here for a longer time now. 99% of the posts in any thread by newbies dont even have any reading value.
