It looks like you have just one chance. You can mine with the CPU shitcoins right at the start. You have to find a new coin, download wallet quickly, and start mining by the wallet. So you can find several blocks by this way. And later you can win if this coin would be on some exchange. So, your advice is solo mining, right? Then tried to mine from the genesis block (block 0), but I sure one day's mining isn't enough to collect enough coins (from block rewards) moreover if this coin isn't listed yet on the market. Let's says doing mining for three days - 1 week. Forcing laptop for doing the hardest task for three days event enough to destroy the laptop. ![Grin](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/grin.gif)

The GPU mining really gives no profit, but using laptop in my way - you can find several blocks with nice reward. The main trouble is to start one of the first.

Basically, you are wrong. First That will work if you find cpu based coins (and you don't mention it). Nice block rewards (as you said) means nothing if the coin isn't listed yet in the market, and that's not for OP (that new in the mining and need to get money as fast as he can). And your way doesn't decrease the risk related to mining using a laptop. SecondThe GPU mining really gives no profit, but using laptop in my way - you can find several blocks with nice reward.
What can I say? ![Cheesy](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cheesy.gif) ------------------------- That's also applied to every mining device when you were solo mining started when genesis block launched (and I assume that the coin just mined by a few miners)

No I tryed to mine with my laptop and I would not recommend it, it's really a bad idea. Better ideas for laptops are POS mining and to set up an own masternode!

You can try to look up honeyminer. It is designed for newbies. You can also try to mine new CPU-only coins like Lapo https://app.lapo.io/?ref=YqWIq4kqPN until the GPUs arrive. It will be low return at first but the returns might be gigantic.

I actually got 2 old computers(that are way worse than laptop) But they dont really start up. So in order to buy them new things to make them work again it would be a huge investment for me(i am only 19 without a job currently). Should i use My laptop..? my friend told me that its a bad idea because it wont mine enough btc and its just not worth. my laptop has these 8Gb Ram Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4510U CPU @ 2.00GHz 2.60 GHz 64 bit...? I am not an expert at this tbh . Any opinion/reply will be appreciated !! Thanks a lot

If you're looking for a specific altcoin/shitcoin to start mining with an 8gb cpu look no further than the cryptoknight algo coins. My favorite is XAO, Alloy. All you have to do is download the qt wallet and press. "start mining." My old work pc (circa 2005) mines about 130 XAO/week, Or about 3900 satoshi/week. Not getting rich by any means, but I get the satisfaction of sticking it to the man.

As your friend said. Mining with laptop is a bad idea, you won't earn much and it will literature literally damage your laptop. However, since you're yet to have knowledge about the mining system, I will advice you to try and improve your account ranking so you can join bounty or signature campaign while you learn more about mining of crypto currency.

Not worth it. As others have mentioned there are other ways to acquire crypto, like participating in bounties and other campaigns. If that is what you want to do I suggest you get on Twitter. If you want to try your hand at mining you can learn on the laptops without having to invest in expensive mining hardware.

Are you advising the OP to start by mining coins which are yet to reach exchange through his laptop just like in the early days of Bitcoin? If that's the case I will consider it as a good idea.

I mined Merit for a few weeks on my medium level gaming laptop. Didn’t earn a ton of coins but it was fun and they just released a slick new wallet that makes mining a breeze.
Pm me for more details and use t0ny to get your wallet unlocked!

It seems so. I wrote CPU mining and i dont understand what is incomprehensible here. Can u understand the difference between GPU and CPU? And yes, with laptop the only chance to get nice profit is to mine coins without exchange yet.

it's not really worth mining with your laptop. if you still insist then do go ahead and find some cpu based coins to mine but don't be expecting groundbreaking returns.
i would believe, you can gain more from selling your laptop rather than mining

I supported what you said but base on the OP standard concerning mining issues. I will advice him/hervto start new altcoin which are holding some ICO or which are yet to hit the market cause most miners don't usually focus in those coins but I will need another laptop (HP envy) to do that

Well like you, I have a desktop the same specs as yours and a Samsung laptop, and I used them to mine Ethereum and Monero last December 11, 2017, via minergate.com, up to 1st week of February this year, then I stopped it. Why? It's not profitable because of the electricity cost, the worse part I can no longer use my laptop, it totally blackout and according to 'repair technician' it's beyond economical repair. You can google it anyway if it's profitable to mine crypto with a laptop or desktop, or simply google, cryptocurrency mining by laptop or cryptocurrency mining desktop.

It's funny how this question gets asked here almost on a weekly basis ![Cheesy](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cheesy.gif) . The answer to laptop mining is rather No. Laptops are good for what they are meant to be - portable computers. So the weight and size are really important factors here. You cannot really throw a lot of cooling into the laptop without bulking it up too much. No sufficient cooling for long periods of time = fried components.
