I posted this already in the video comments,
but here we go:

"Hey Vosk, great video once again! But you have one thing wrong in the video. You CAN order less than fourty AvalonMiners, in fact only one if you want to. But they deal these small orders via their official partner network. https://canaan.io/official-distributors/ See Blokforge and Cryptouniverse for example. Best regards, Matti "

That's a good point, accidentally overlooked that -- as I know personally nova-bit deals as well. Unfortunately some info gets lost trying to condense everything in a 10 min video. What are your thoughts on the asic miner co boards Matti?

What are your thoughts on the asic miner co boards Matti?

As close as I could look at them,
the design looks good to me.

As you mentioned in the video,
I guess no burnt parts were found in the faulty miner?
No bad capacitors?
etc.

Could not find a single piece that looked burned or damaged -- however I am no expert here and just because it appears fine does not guarantee it is . . as you know.

HOWEVER at the end of the day they said I have already had it too long anyway and to send it to their next customer w/ "more experience" w/ their miners. So I would happily bet that they simply turned it off to have me send it off --- whether these chips hash 180k or good chunk of hash is redirected I do not know. Past sending an actual "real" miner they have done nothing to instill any sort of confidence in me.

Yeah, I find it really really suspicious if the miner only communicates with their own server. They can basically do what ever they want with the miners.

This reminds me of the thermal paste (or a better term thermal blob) with my Antminer S2.

Basically I had a few unit however there was one unit that ran hotter than the others. I decided to disasemble the heatsinks and look at the thermal paste, there was basically a light swip of thermal glob and that's it, it covered maybe 15% of the entire hash board.

Opened up the other units and I found that the earlier Antminer S2 had more thermal paste than the later ones. So either they were running low on that cheap thermal paste or they were just cranking out too many machines and didn't have enough labour to do a proper job.
