In fact, even the history of money is hard to explain everything in this single image.
There are many topics to talk about, such as convertible notes, gold standard, and the establishment of the first bank, etc.
Nonetheless, we can recognize the approximate history of money in this image.
We were able to see when the first currency, the first credit card, was introduced, and it seemed fun.

Each block is stacked on top of the previous one. Adding another block to the top makes all lower blocks more difficult to remove: there is more "weight" above each block. A transaction in a block 6 blocks deep (6 confirmations) will be very difficult to remove.

So credit card is introduced after the great depression and just after WW2. Thus credit card system has not really been tested in bad situation (well, maybe little in housing crash 2008.) On the other hand, the same can be said about bitcoin, too.

No.

The credit card system is nothing but a first generation electronic money system.

It's already obsolete.

Just not as much obsolete as paper money.

Paper money is not obsolete, most people still use it when they go to the grocery stores, it is useful to have money outside of an electronic system

Nothing to say

This is very different in different parts of the world.

Maybe we should call it "an accepted practice." Something could be functionally obsolete and continue for decades.

What I have seen in the US from the 1990s to today is a gradual decline in the use of cash, such that today even things like coffeeshop lines, where payments are 2-10USD, 90% are with credit cards today.

But yes in going to other countries I see in some a high use of cash. By the way it's not my opinion or assertion that using credit cards is better or more advanced, quite the opposite.

I think this series of videos explains pretty good the history of money: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DyV0OfU3-FU

The OP image is interesting, but doesn't provide the whole picture.

Thanks for sharing, great stuff.

A also wonder how (and if) Crypto will influence financial system this and next decade. So far it seems disattached from the general economy and exists in parallel environment. We`ll see how it`ll come out in future.

Cryptofunds will definitely continue to grow and develop even despite the fact that 99% of projects that raised money this year will disappear in a year.

Nice article, I believe that money and banks as such were created by the Italians, I recommend you guys read the book "The wealth of the nations" by Adam Smith. Its a good book and you would learn a lot

I never know that credit card was being created since 1946, I thought that it was being implemented at applied during 90's, I don't know if this figure of chart history was precisely right. But anyway, since that we are now here crypto industry it is a secondary form of money in our generation we have it now.

If we know that history goes in circles, then we expect to see the barter system again very soon if the financial crisis doesn't stop
I`m actually curious if and how it will be implemented on the global level - barter system may work perfectly in smaller communities, but almost impossible on the global scale.
