I believe that for a moment the market was over-saturated, we have seen this type of scenarios before and it has happened that many good projects do not receive the necessary funds to survive, that is one of the consequences of the free market, but I believe that with enough time everything will be normalized and only the projects that are really useful will survive.

Already there are more than two thousand types of crypto currency. However, our life is so multifaceted that crypto currencies may very well be several times more without harm to reduce its quality. The basis of the crypto currency is tokens, which are used in the narrow sphere of our life and have very little competition with anyone. Therefore, I do not see any problems in increasing the number of altcoins.

There will definitely be more competition among the altcoins. Some will not be able to survive before the year runs out, while those that are backed up with goods products will sure survive no matter how it might have dumped.

We've already reached the point where the market is oversaturated with altcoins that some alts (I'd say the new ones) will most likely dissapear in the future. This is what happens when the altcoin hype cools down, everyone stops paying to the new altcoins created for the sole purpose to earn a quick buck and people take their money and put it in most of the well-accepted alts in the market.

I daresay we are already there, and the recent bitcoin and altcoin price dynamics prove just that. I'm not following the shit-ton of altcoins, only a few main ones like zcash or litecoin, and from what I see, I gather that bitcoin sucks liquidity from these coins. It means that when they fall, bitcoin remains at the same level. I can't explain it in any other way. So if even top altcoins have been falling so dramatically, what about the ones which many of us don't even know the names of?

Unfortunately, scam coins and shitcoin still occupy a big chunck of the market, but hopefully, after this bear market, there will be a cleaning in the cryptosphere and we'll get rid of the shitcoins forever and only legitimate projects will survive.

With prices stabilizing and a few coins receiving most of investors' money, the market will be well partitioned, and shitcoins won't have a standing chance. I would say that even promising projects offering real value and benefits will have difficulties attracting capital as speculation tapers off.

I read somewhere that as of August 2018 there's like 1600+++ altcoins in the market and majority of this alt are either dead or slowly dying. For Alts to survive it needs to have a real use case but sad to say many Alts we're just launch in exchange to satisfied early investors and project just keep floating and many instances the dev team left the project along with the funds they collected. Just look at exchanges like Cryptopia, Mercatox, StockExchange etc...see how many Alts just 1sat value and have no movements. This is the reality of ICO nowadays though I will say there's still few good alts that functioning and doing well which makes me believe that there's still hope in blockchain ecosystem and crypto market.

Reality is the only thing that is real.

Well i don't close my mind with the possibility that there's a crypto that soon may surpass Btc. All of them now are dictated but the price of BTC but sooner or later the best will come maybe this year or next year.

The most important thing here is that among the so-many-altcoins, you have to be able to know which to pick, hold or play in the trading game. For me, as a respect to the king of crypto, let's not compete with bitcoin, instead, let's just aim that what altcoins we have, will remain kicking in the next years.

In this wide market and competition is tough, altcoins who are strong shall remain and the weakest will be out.

Those alts that will survive can reach the current price of bitcoin now $6000 while bitcoin will reach new heights.

to be equivalent to bitcoin is not an easy thing to do even though there are thousands of coins that finally disappear, bitcoin has its own power and cannot be compared to other coins, but it affects the price, of course it happens all the time, not because the coins are lost, but because of competition for bitcoin holders who play on the market

I think it's not a problem if we have many altcoins in the market as long as they have a good application and adoption that can attract investors then they will survive. Currently if we look in the marketcap we have many altcoins that and I don't know if they will survive in the next 2 years.

There are thousands of altcoins circulating in the market amd some of them are already erased because of unserious team members, not enough funds to support the platform, poor advertisent or partnerships and maybe a scam platform. Those altcoins that survived always have a chance to reach the price equal to bitcoin but they will always stay behind the king of cryptocurrencies.

More and more people will invest in crypto. There would be a huge competition between ICOs launchers. Everyone will try to collect huge funds. Bounty hunters will get more chances to earn money. They will get more chances to join bounty campaigns. Hope the use of cryptocurrency will also increase with the creation of new ICOs in the market.

Absolutely nothing. Since some of those coins will be useless in the end and people may not try to engage with those kinds of coins then maybe they will stay useless.

There is already too much altcoins circulating now and there are way too many people using these altcoins to take money out of the market, what would happen if there were way too many altcoins circulating around on the m=internet is what we are experiencing now. The best we can do is to hope that people stop investing in the scam coins

Definitely there are too many altcoins and they cannot all possibly hope to survive. So what will happen to them? First of all, let's not forget that some of the coins are already dead. Check this website:

https://deadcoins.com/

To date, they list some 929 coins, which are either dead, have been found to be scam, or someone hacked them. I'm afraid many more will be listed there in the years to come.

There is also a significant number of alts that will die a long and slow death. Their value will gradually diminish, and eventually no one will care about them and they will cease to exist.

The ones that survive will never reach the bitcoin value, though. They may compete for a fraction of market cap, but IMO, BTC is the supreme number one for many many decades.
Lot of scammers launches fake projects and on the bank there is no coin. They only want to collect money from people around the world and when they succeed, they disappear from the market. There are also very good Altcoin which will make place in the market forever. You can make good profits from there. But it is necessary to check the credibility of a project before investment.

Altcoins who can survive the next couple of years seems to me to be very few, because there are very few really worthwhile projects!

Nobody needs a lot of altcoins. All of course believe that one day will come such an altcoin that can beat Bitcoin, but so far there are no such altcoins, and there are only dying coins.

Every day that passes bitcoin becomes more dominant, more popular and more valuable, and if things don't change and that altcoin that everyone is waiting for doesn't appear then the chances that coin will displace bitcoin even if it is a better coin will become even more remote, and by looking at the market of altcoins and the incredibly low quality that many of those possess the chances that bitcoin is going to be surpassed are very low.

I think it will not. Quite the contrary. Now the market will clear itself of useless coins that do not carry any good. So most likely there will be less coins.

Well it depends on the coin, it depends on the coin how well the developers develop the project, how good the marketing team advertise the coin, but with too much alt coins that offered the same function then it will make the coins become weaker, if ICO keep on coming out then there is no chance alt coin can beat bitcoin
