I really don't buy any of this. Lets make a bet on any of the sites that support this and put the money where our mouth is. Please if someone has created the bet post it.
I speculate that in the next several days something will be revealed that will exclude the Mr in the news from the potential founders of Bitcoin.

the freelancer and the editor wouldn't make that claim, with a headline, and take a gamble like that.
the fallout for them would be huge if they were wrong.
and they are right.
BTW: how much you betting?

There is zero fallout of any consequence. This is a hail mary from an irrelevant organization on the brink of annihilation trying to resurrect itself with sales. What can some 64-year old schlub of modest means in Southern California possibly do to hurt them?

There are two Satoshi Nakamotos.
This man is not the Satoshi Nakamoto that programmed and started the bitcoin transaction/mining process.
EDIT: I'm confident that the Satoshi Nakamoto that "programmed and started the actual transaction/mining process", will contact the community sometime in the near future, to alleviate some of the problems this man (Dorian) and his family will have because of this article.

I don't know what planet you live on, but here on Earth "reporters" and "news" companies constantly make huge, glaring mistakes in their "reporting". not like this. you don't dox like this. there would be great legal liablity for newsweek. grow the fuck up, and absorb the obvious. fucking tinfoil hat shit is off the chain in this forum. grasp reality for once.

There was great legal liability for MtGox to not fuck up; therefore they did no wrong, correct?

LOL. I don't care who Satoshi is, so don't get all bent out of shape. I'm simply saying that reporters can't be trusted. Believe what you want, I don't give a rat's ass. No one can be trusted, hence bitcoin;). .

The criteria "fits unknown age, is programmer, is smart, writes english and is reclusive" fits an awful lot of people in this world. (Hal Finney thought Satoshi was young btw.)
We know that the real Satoshi reset the timestamps on his communication to +0 GMT as well as other things to stay hidden - why would such a person use his real name? Even a real name not used in 40 years would still be easily-ish trackable.
This is speculation of my own, but I can't help thinking that the real Satoshi is called something that has nothing to do with "Satoshi Nakamoto".
I know even a genius is not infallible, but his OWN name while trying to stay hidden? Why? Might as well move the Satoshi coins straight to a passport verified exchange account and check out to his personal bank account!
I'll believe it when the name is "Bob Hansen"/"Cheng Hui" and was found via the email/github trail and mail server/NSA records and the person in question is caught with some incriminating evidence - such as known Satoshi private keys.
