I see people saying oh its the darn bots doing the day trading. How safe are they, and how can I get a piece of that action? Also, for free I might add. I mean the bot can get some of the profits but it should not be asking me an advance money, that is how the scams work.

They are not very safe. There are two main risks:
1. If you provide credentials or API keys, these may get compromised. Either by the provider of the bot or by 3rd party attacks on their systems. If a service stores your information on their servers, then if they get compromised, you are at risk. To mitigate this risk, look for local bots and restrict the permissions of your APIs or keep low balances in your exchanges.
2. Inefficient bots will lose money on your behalf. They may not know when to stop and can run your balances to the ground. If a bot is good, then it is probably worth a lot, so there is no incentive releasing it for free.

Best advice is to look for reputable bots, make sure you can trust them and that they are backed by a real entity, and if they don't offer a free trial, then talk to previous users if you could find them to figure out what it's worth.

You will for sure not get a +EV tradingbot for free! Im here to offer a Fund Manager Service and to rent out a tradingbot as well.

I offer free testers here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5041827.0
