Some group of people  has argued we will experience another high surge in Bitcoin Price early 2019 when ETF get approved  while some said ETF does not have any crucial role in influencing Bitcoin Price positively. From the little experience i have acquired since i started trading on Cryptocurrencies ,  i have got to realize price Predictions has never been any effective .The underlying theory of Bitcoin price determinants still remain a mystery unlike in traditional market unless someone got a Crystal ball. lols. The cryptocurrency market (especially bitcoin) is very irrational.
While an approved ETF might have a positive influence, i wouldn't bet on it.

Especially in times without too much of activity, it seems like the chart doesn't care about any news (neither positive nor negative).

I can very well imagine that an approved ETF would arouse some peoples curiosity, which then could lead to a rising interest again.
But i don't believe it will trigger another bull run as seen in 2017.
At least a positive movement seems to be more probable than a negative one regarding an approved ETF.

Before predicting the price due to ETFs, one must first think whether any ETFs would ever be approved. With the recent changes on the SEC commissioners + Trump voicing some form of support on the matter, it is very likely that the SEC would finally approve some, but then again it isn't a sure thing that the price will perform well after one ETF gets confirmed. Seeing that traders themselves have completely lost interest on the subject, it's hard to picture out what might happen along the way, but for now, people are not interested on any ETF hypes today.

First of all, there is no assurance that bitcoin ETFs will be approved in early 2019. It may or may not happen so always have a contingency plan ready if you are banking on this news.

Secondly, try to understand what type of ETFs are being reviewed by SEC. Are they synthetic or Physical? If they are synthetic, that means, actual bitcoins will not be bought from the market. That won't change the current demand and hence no impact will be seen in the market. But if the the ETF is a physical one like, Winklevoss ETF, then you can certainly expect some impact in the market, because in this case, physical bitcoins will be purchased from the market which will increase the demand and take it up to another notch higher!

So based on the type of the ETF, you can expect some impact! However, I don't see any hope of the ETFs being approved anytime soon in 2019 as SEC is still very skeptical about these proposals. So don't bank on this just as of now!

The problem is that the SEC has often disapproved of ETFs, so it creates a sense of discouragement. it's like people think like this:
 "do not have high expectations until I confirm that it has been approved," but if approved it will create a huge price increase, I read in many places that a possible approval of the VanEck ETF would be very beneficial for bitcoin.

The truth behind predictions are based upon experience or knowledge of a person depending on what he or she observed. Unfortunately, we are blinded by those positive predictions that bitcoin will go up high again specially if ETF approval happens. How many of us here are familiar with ETF and how does it work? I believe that we only hear about ETF news but don't have any idea what is this all about. Based on what I observed, most investors are only go with the flow and follow the news that drives the price of cryptocurrency. If that ETF will be approved, it might affect the price of bitcoin positively.

As for me, an approved ETF has nothing in terms of Bitcoin price. Bitcoin price, like the comment above, is really irrational and unlike the traditional trading, it could not be predicted, there are so many factors affecting the Bitcoin price but it is not constant, a factor that could lead to a price surge today might not be like yesterday, any news with regards to the financial status of a particular institution might affect the price today but it could be no harm if it is repeated the other month or day.

in early 2019 we will most probably be on the rise already and any kind of positive news, even something that people sopped caring about such as ETF can help the rise become bigger and increase the final ATH that we reach.

Sure, it could be positive news if the ETF were to approved, the thing is that expectations from the community are low regarding the ETF. For instance, the hype has cooled down, people have lost any hope of seeing the ETF getting delayed over and over again. With that in mind, the impact of an ETF could be positive but minimal if there isn't enough momentum surrounding it. IMO I don't expect the etf to be approved any time soon, I'd rather keep my expectations on the line than getting excited for what the outcome is gonna be if it ever gets approved.

the price of bitcoin will always be a mystery, but what's wrong is we speculate about what we analyze. If in 2019 the ETF approves BTC then surely this will play an important role in pumping bitcoin, because this news will increase public confidence in bitcoin. Of course things like this are fundamental analysis which is one analysis in determining prices and speculating

Bitcoin ETF approval would greatly increase adoption and would draw in investors of different scale.
But I doubt it would have any significant effect on the price, especially in the long-term scheme. Sustained price stability and consolidation of bitcoins value is one of the goals of the asset, and ETF wouldn't accelerate that.

the problem about an ETF is that bitcoin will be much closer to be a financial instruments and not a coin.

OP, perception is everything. When, not if, the ETF is approved, it will cause investors, both individual and institutional, to perceive that "this is it, we have to buy now". Everyone will be wanting to be the first to go in that door to get the goodies.

There is no garruanty that the ETF will be aproved in the early 2019. Even if it does, there is no possiblity that it will influence the market to have a rise. The market is highly volatile. So, it will be hard to predict if the ETF will have any effect on the market or not.

I think the Bitcoin ETF and Bitcoin Future are no different, both of them are the vehicles of the popes to deceive/manipulate bitcoin prices as happened in the middle of December 2017.

I can very well imagine that an approved ETF would arouse some peoples curiosity, which then could lead to a rising interest again.

But that only applies temporarily and then most of the bitcoin users will probably be overshadowed by the dark growth of bitcoin as it's now happening, bitcoin's difficult to rise.
