Min Byung-Doo chairmen of Korea's National Policy Committee is persuading
the government to legalize ICOs.

He pointed out that ICO is a new trend in global market and the country should
go along with the new technology. He also mentioned the success of the ICOs of Telegram and Block.one.

Furthermore, he said the government, National assembly and Block chain association
should create a working group to check frauds and develop block chain industry.

National assembly is still waiting for the approval.

Why do I think this is a great move?

The fact that many countries in Asia are not making any promising move towards legalizing ICO, it's great to hear news like this favoring ICO legalization.

Let me know what you think will be the ramifications of this.

Great news for ICOs in Asia!

Keeping in mind the potential of the market, the world of cryptocurrency could genuinely get a major boost due to this.

We are already aware of Singapore being the safe haven for ICOs across the globe. Another Asian country joining the entourage would definitely improve investor confidence.

This is great because the south korean market is already huge, it seems as if any coin that spreads in to the south korean market pumps greatly. If they can embrace ICOs to an even greater scale from a regulatory point of view then things should improve further. Hopefully more than anything it can act as a guideline for other countries to begin to take a more favourable view to ICOs and cryptos as a whole.

The government never really liked ICO back then. It was among the few governments to ban it last year. Well the ban didn't stop ICO from flourishing. It does not make sense to ban something you have no control of. Politicians should be thinking of ways to bring in true transparency into governance with the help of Blockchain and not trying to stop or control it

It's really good because our crypto market really needs to be protected by the government. I do not care about our taxes, but I'm more important about safety. I do not want to be scammed and wasted effort for many different projects.

I thought that guy must try to get more update about what already happened with block.one and then he must change his thought about that. block.one has been splitting.
i could not agree if he was taking block.one as an example because they have created nothing beside of horrible platform called EOS. a lot of icos only need a few million dollars to create such a working blockchain system

South Korea is a very nasty country in the Asia continent. It was gone 2 years by the evolving of the BOS Coin which is representing the South Korean digital currency. But, now it has no value which is less than $0.05. At first, when it launched even after the one year of ICO it was valued at more than $3 per coin. Now I think it is a fake digital coin.

wow calm down.
What do you mean by nasty country ? are you out of your mind ?
there are a tons of project created based on or from south korean, but it does not mean they could represent the entire south korean.
plus until now,we have yet to see them regulate it.
so it was not part of them in general and they are not officially related to south korean.the only thing that we know right now is they came from or their team was from there, nothing more than that.

It does not seem to me that they are seeking legalization, but rather regulation. Legalize imply that an investment today in ICO is totally illegal and punishable with time in jail. What is happening today is a doubt about regulation and therefore is not allowed.

This is a legislative matter. ICO will gradually prove to be one of the best tools to raise values. Any country that does not regulate will be left behind. And South Korea is one of the countries where the population is more in love with Cryptos. Certainly very soon it will be 100% regulated and legal to invest in ICO.

As early as the 1960’s South Korea was looking to West Germany as example of hard work and reconstruction to acheive economic growth.  So now that they’ve been accepted as a developed country for a while, It’s a natural progression that they should be embracing ICOs and goes hand in hand with South Korea’s leadership in the tech sector with their mobile media and apps inventions.  The ban in South Korea last winter created a lot of FUD, so hopefully the market will improve overall if it’s lifted.

It is a good thing if the government actually decides to take it up. At least, the fact that someone in the top government is seeing the benefits that lies in the crypto space and is persuading the government to not lag behind is indeed a good start.

Actually, legalization would be something that would eventually be a thing in the long run as we start seeing regulations kicking in and for a country that knows that with the way the ICO space is going and for the fact that they are being part of a new technology and that would sprout innovations coming from this region, it would surely help their economy.

so far, crypto and ico are only dominated by Russia, Europe and America. by joining its developers and ico from Asia to offer something new and can provide their own interests, especially for the Asian community.

indeed we know that there are a lot of problems and losses caused by ico, but if South Korea can legalize ico in the near future, it can increase confidence in crypto and will have a good impact on market growth.

ico from South Korea will make a big change, now the continent of Europe becomes a continent that controls most of the forums. so when South Korea makes ico it can be used as a productive thing for countries in Asia.

South Korea is one of the country initially takes steps against the investors and ICO creators in crypto industry. Now they may understand and come with the better business proposal and adoption on the cryptocurrencies.

Hope they will be a next Japan saying like big country legalizing the usage of cryptocurrencies.

He's already late to recognize about ICOs, gone are the days where these ICOs majority of them are really legit. Up to this day, majority of those ICOs are fake, scam or will no longer continue if they never reached their expected soft cap.

It's not easy to legalize ICO Smiley. Of course all of us know that all ICO projects created also have good purpose but there are so many scammers still wanna get easy money by creating fake ICO to steal money from investors and it's not easy to prevent these scammers so at first they need to find out the solution for this case before legalizing.

As far as I remember, Ico was banned in Korea, as in China. Legalization is very useful to reduce the number of fraudulent activities and increase their effectiveness and recoil. And the clones will not be created, which will reduce the number of shitcoins on the market.
