Because Damascus steel is beautiful there is an assumption it is very expensive which is not always the case. The
Damascus, brass scales and leather sheath for that knife cost about $100. This is not a custom made knife from a famous maker, more of a kit knife with engraved brass scales that originally sold for about $200 here on the forum.
There are not that many bladesmiths in the world who can command prices higher than $5000 for a full custom fixed blade hunter. Regardless good luck with the sale! Damascus hunting knives are popular for comparables take a look at
Arizona Custom Knives. You might consider an auction here. I have been collecting and trading knives for many years and would value it at about $500 max. It is a nice conversation piece but no way is it worth two bitcoin sorry about that.
You are talking it down because you don't own one and never will.
You ignore the fact that this batch was the worlds first bitcoin knives. Custom made in a limited edition so yeah it is famous and the maker will always be known. You act like they are some cheap pressed knock off
What makes it even more so special is this is the last unopened blade in the world.
Famous Katanas will sell for well over $300k and many knives with history will match this. This one is in that category and thats why it commands a premium.
Your $500 valuation is dream. If you really trade knives like you claim you do you would have never said $500. If you want to get a cheap knife I suggest Aliexpress.
Although it is a great knife you are a bit delusional about the price (not meant as an insult). $13,000 is a rediculous amount of money for any knife, regardless who made it. I have been collecting knives for years now and I know a thing or two about them.
>You ignore the fact that this batch was the worlds first bitcoin knives. Custom made in a limited edition so yeah it is famous and the maker will always be known. The maker of these knives isn't even known. Anyone could have bought blank blades on ebay and have the handles etched. Here are 5 damascus steel blank blades for $90:

The fact that it is a batch of 20 knives makes it less valuable compared to a single knife. Steve Randall (who is an ABS Master Smith) is a world renowned blade smith who makes amazing custom (damascus) knives.

>Famous Katanas will sell for well over $300k and many knives with history will match this. This one is in that category and thats why it commands a premium.I have no idea where you get this from. Traditionally made Japanese katanas sell for nowhere near that price. Korehira Watan is one of the last traditional sword smiths. He spends ~10 months finishing 1 katana and only makes a few every year. His swords sell for ~$20,000 - $30,000. Katanas that sell for $300,000 are likely to be 14th century swords (or older).
>Your $500 valuation is dream. If you really trade knives like you claim you do you would have never said $500. If you want to get a cheap knife I suggest Aliexpress.$500 is a fair price for a knife like this (might be a little much even), especially since 20 of these were made (so it's not a 1 of its kind). Sure, damascus patterns are unique but the design of the knife is still identical to the other 19. The quality of the knife looks fine but it comes nowhere near the high quality knives made by master smiths.
