Original article in French

Translation:

ETH and EOS: two networks competing for dApps

The article, published by the co-founder of Blockmanity, compares the number of daily users and the volume of transactions of the two competing networks.

According to the author, EOS is progressing in terms of adoption by users, because the user experience would be superior to that of Ethereum, and transactions are free and fast for the user, because EOS does not use a transaction fee system (unlike gas on Ethereum).

DappRadar website, referencing various metrics on the ETH and EOS dApps, was used by the author to perform the comparison, and we also took screenshots at the time of writing of this article.

The 10 most used dApps on EOS, the challenger:

Number of users in 24 hours

We can see, just like Blockmanity, that out of the 10 most used dApps on each network, 2 exceed the thousand users in the last 24 hours for Ethereum, and 5 on EOS. In addition, the first two EOSApps (in terms of number of users) even exceed 5,000 users in one day.

Out of the total number of daily users in the first 10 dApps, there is almost a ratio of 2.5 in favor of EOS (about 6,750 users for ETH and about 16,500 users for EOS).

7-day transaction volume

Taking into account their respective value in euros, the global sums related to transactions on dApps seem to be more important on EOS, if we look again at the first 10, over a week.

At the time of writing, about EOS 9.7 million had been traded in the last 7 days on its dApps, and about 48,400 ethers: if we take current prices this is respectively EUR 48.5 million from EOS, and around EUR 9.5 million from ethers.

EOS getting used more, but there is more development on ETH

Even if the match up seems to be favorable to the underdog, and gives an instant hint of the respective use of the two networks, many other factors should be taken into account to even start a real comparison.

We already notice some differences between the categories of dApps most used on each network, even if we find on both platforms many games (we note the presence of many gambling games on EOS), DEX (exchanges decentralized) ... some are even ponzi schemes.

Ethereum is still the network with the most developers, by its age and reliability, for a longer period of operation than its young competitor.

On one hand, some concerns about scalability and gas costs for ETH, on the other hand, worrying signs about the actual decentralization of the governance consensus for EOS. The advantages and disadvantages are different on both networks. Only the future will tell us where the developers will head in majority, meanwhile, the match continues...
