I believe that is because the merit system was not a punishment, but rather a challenge to the previous spammers to contribute effectively to the growth of the forum and get rewarded.
Although am sure there was also an increase in merit abuse, but we have since seen improvement in the forum, particularly the bitcoin board.
And meta is also recovering from the earlier influx.

Very interesting post. From it we can conclude that more and more users receive Merit not with high ranks.
And it gives hope that everyone has a chance to raise the rank, if you make quality posts.

I think OP shouldn't consider "copper members" as different rank when comparing stats.

I think OP shouldn't consider "copper members" as different rank when comparing stats.

Initially, I planned not to single out the rank of "copper members", but then I decided to single out it as a single rank. And besides, there are not so many of them, so in general they will not greatly change the situation.

I was curious who's the Brand New with 250 merits. It's this one:

Already tagged red for merit abuse.

How are you maintaining the people with Copper members and other ranks too? Isn't it making some difference?

Isn't it with 500 merits? S/he was nuked long before and should be banned although there is no such rule, afaik.

250 airdrop + 250 received. kirreev070's stats show only received merits.

A nuke is a ban that also deletes all posts so not sure what you mean by that. The user apparently farmed 250 merits and either got nuked (perhaps before Vod started scraping ban stats so it's not showing up on BPIP) or deleted all their posts. Although nuking high-ranked accounts is quite rare.

I selected the users with the rank of the Copper Member in a separate list and did not take into account their rank. As you can see in the screenshot on the site they are also highlighted separately.
