Rapper Soulja Boy Brags About Bitcoin Gains in New Rap Track

Famous rapper Soulja Boy might just be a bitcoin hodler.

The 28-year-old musician, perhaps best-known for his debut single "Crank That," debuted a new song about bitcoin in his latest album "Young Draco." Simply titled "Bitcoin," the track describes how Soulja "made [$1] million off of bitcoins" after seemingly buying in at $6,000.

"Man, this going crazy the cryptocurrency man," the lyrics begin, continuing:

   

"I made 100 racks off of bitcoin (bit)
    You can catch me trapping with the bitcoin (bit)
    You can catch me running up the bitcoin (yeah)
    I spent 6,000 on the bitcoin"

(Urban Dictionary defines "100 racks" as being $100,000.)

Soulja later indicates he may be paying bands using cryptocurrency, or at least his gains from his holdings ("I'm doing shows [?] feeling me ... running up the bands on cryptocurrency"), before referencing sending transactions through PayPal and the Cash App.

He also references owning litecoins, though he does not provide any firm details in the song about his holdings.

Soulja is the latest musician to reference cryptocurrencies, with Mims, Snoop Dogg, 3lau and Young Dirty Bastard all getting involved in the space through various projects or performances.

Most recently, bitcoin even played a cameo on Eminem's new album "Kamikaze."

Royce Da 5'9', a guest artist on "Not Alike," notes that "now everybody doing bitcoin" on the track – he wasn't kidding.

If he made 100 racks, he made $100,000...not $1M. And he says he spent $6,000 on the bitcoin, meaning he turned $6,000 into $100,000. Not really a big deal, pretty common actually.

If he bought in AT $6,000 he'd only own 16 bitcoin with his $100,000...bitcoin would have to worth $60,000 each for a stash of only 16BT to be worth a million.

I think you have made certain conclusion about gangsters and what it is all about for, which is making of money and probably fame whether in the right way or negative way. What you said in the above is almost what is known with them.

However, it is his right to brag about the risk he took and made some racks from it. Asking that he could prove it by screenshot on the social media might be out of context. Afterall, some other made so much many from bitcoin last December.

Moreover, just like HabBear calculated in the above post, he just might have only 16 Btc.

We almost have the same sentiment . In my opinion, I really don't think that he is not a true crypto investor (including the rest stated above). Yeah! I know that I can't support my statement with evidences but as you will think broader you might never think that a record artist like him would have an interest in geek stuffs like cryptocurrency. Both fields are not correlated to each other so it's really hard to believe (I'm not sure but that's what my intuition says).

In the music industry, you should be creative in order to maintain the fame you've got. Maybe that's why those rappers made a song with a "not so ordinary" reference because they knew that many will get curious and talk about it. Or maybe those rappers already received a talent fee/royalty in a form of crypto and made it as an inspiration in their work, who knows?

I doubt he even owns bitcoin or if he does not as much as he's making out. I'm sure he'd deny owning this much if the IRS ever comes knocking. Just another rapper fake flexing due to insecurity and bitcoin is the in thing to rap about.

Rap singers say a lot of shits. They cry while singing they live in poverty but they make video clips with the latest Audi and Mercedes cars like if it was their car. They claim to sell kilos of drugs but who is crazy enough to brag about it in public.
