Hi everyone,

So I am very interested in reading different sections of the forum to stay up to date. I specially like the Meta, Beginners & Help, and Altcoin section of the forum.

My issue is that there are a ton of new topics everyday that are either repetitive or nonsense. However, there are some topics that I would love to see and read and not miss.

Is there a way that I can sort the posts in each of the mentioned sections, based on the total amount of merits "spent" in the entire topic including the replies? That way I doubt I miss the important (read-worthy) stuff.

Any solution?

**Update**

Forget about my question/suggestion above, PLEASE show me a way to see:

a list of most merited post in las 24h/ week/ month

Thank you for your awesome suggestion pozmu

There are 3rd party sites that you can use to read this board, but I'm not sure if any allows such sorting.

Cool thing would be a list of most merited post in las 24h/ week/ month so you wouldn't miss nothing important, I think this would be a lot easier to implement than sorting by merit.

I dont think that this would be that useful, because the most merited posts are usually older, long living threads. You would have to scroll all the way down or even switch pages to see new and important threads!

It's a collection of the most popular threads here in the forum.

I don't know if there is such thing that you're looking for. You can ignore posts/boards to dexrease the number of posts/threads that you see. That way, you can only see those posts made from people here who actually makes good topics.

There is a recent thread on Meta on the matter at hand (see Can we please have a way to sort threads in a sub-forum as per merit?). While there is no implemented sorting feature as such, you can check the thread suggested by @jacee and the top merited official stats (see https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=merit;stats).

In the first mentioned thread, I included the alternative to use the Merit Dashboard, click on the Rankings tab, and filter at the top by one of the section/subsection of preference.
On the right hand of the screen you’ll see a sorted list by merit accumulated in the thread, list that can be delimited to a period of time such as last month for example. You then need to locate the thread on Bitcointalk, since there is no hyperlink to the thread in this case (The Dashboard hyperlinks to specific posts, but not entire threads).

Topics with merits do not mean it is important to you or you will listen to it but good for someone.
You may like these discussions, or you may not like it.  so check any topic and click on the watch if you want that topic.
There are ways to sort topics like new posts first, posts with top replies first, and so on.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=1.0;sort=first_post;asc

Quote
By default, SMF sorts threads in boards by the date & time of the last post made.  This modification allows the administrator to set up new possibilities for sort methods, on a board by board basis:

- Last post - default
- Started by
- Replies
- Views
- First post
- Subject

Each can also be sorted in ascending or descending order.

These settings by the administrator are default only.  Users can change them on a time-by-time basis.

Enter your topic into the search box, and hit enter. That will list the topics, but some of them will be out of date. If this bothers you, then do a site search for the topic using Google, and limit the date range.

As has been mentioned, merit is not a particularly useful method of filtering posts, as it is so subjective.

Your idea is 100 times better than mine. I will edit my post right now. See if we can find a way to do it.

It's 100% doable as Bitcointa.lk was two way synchronised version of this forum, this would be much simpler.
I can even imagine how could it be used... If I ever get better I'll look into it.

More features, easier to use etc.
Here is topic about bitcointa.lk which was one of such sites, now it's defunct: Bitcointa.lk, the Bitcointalk community with a 2014 forum software.
I'm not sure if you know, but this forum was going to be upgraded, there were some funds collected for this idea but it never happened for some reason.
