I think the one thing why people invest into ICOs is the potential ROI (return on investment). It is a speculation that the idea behind a project is strong enough to ensure and bring profit for the investment.

After scrolling through the pages of this thread I was very disappointed. "Who actually invests in ICO's" and the answers all had to do with wether you wanted short or long term goals and how big your risk tolerance is. If deep down those are the criteria with which you decide which project to back, then you yourself are to blame for the situation we are in. Investing in an ICO should mean that you truly share a project's vision and by investing you show your support and that you're here to stay until it's turned into reality. What happened to all the geeks wanting to invest in ICO's in order to change the world? If everyone cashed out whenever they got a few good % on their investment then propably every project would have been abandoned half way. Projects like hinounou, where a decentralized healthcare ecosystem is accessible to our elders, or mfchain that wants to act like the backbone of cryptocurrency payments, are not projects that you cash out of when a chance for some good returns comes up but when their dream turns into reality.
P.S. If that happens then the returns are always way higher too!

I know that most of todays traders are here just to make a quick buck, they dont care about the project, or the idea behind the project, they just want "PUUUPM" and "MOOOON". And with all the scam ICO's that we had in the past( my personal favorite BitConneeeeect) people have lost faith in ICO's. But still new ICO's and new ideas are being published every day, I've seen on some projects that i'm following that they reached their soft or hardcap, but what triggers my mind is: Who is investing in those ICO's, what is the one thing that lures the todays investors into investing in a certain project?
Some ICOs have agreements with investment funds, putting a name of known fund on your website as early investor will bring some hype. However the number of successfull ICOs is way different from the last year number.

At the moment, the market for ICO projects is going through hard times, as investors are in anticipation of market recovery and price increases. But some projects carry out ICO even in such conditions, if they have guarantees from any funds, large companies that are interested in the product (technology) that the project offers.

Actually we are already the real investors in this project that is we have keep working for the benefit of the ICO. The more positive feedback we shared on the ICO into the community the more will people will believe into the company as well so make a good promotional advertisement.

ICO is invested by people who want to get a good profit. People who can afford to lose some money in the short term, but get more in a couple of years.

In ICO, I invest money from all segments of the population, people of different professions and having different incomes. You can be a simple housewife or a venerable investor, but all of them are connected by the fact that they believe in blockchain and cryptocurrency.

The answer to who is investing in ICO projects at now can only be investors in cryptocurrency. ICO traders will carefully analyze each ICO project they will invest in, and after they find a potential project, they will begin the investment process from the pre-ICO phase until the project stops the Token Sale.
As I see, many ICOs ask for too much money to be invested in them. For usual people, it is impossible. Take, for instance, Telegram - they were waiting for really great investors. Now, I do not deal with such projects.

It's more about future value propositions now which involves presenting a high quality protocol / platform / app that has a unique use case that can actually achieve some adoption rather than expecting to raise funds from little more than a whitepaper
More venture capital is entering the ICO market with greater expectations yet there has been a steady decline in retail commitment due to the reasons you mention

Not all has already lost faith in ICOs. Some still believe that there are still promising ICOs out there despite of scam ICOs emerging. If they can see it having great potential and has good foundation, then they can be assured that their investment is in good hands.

It all depends on the project. In some projects are investing purely private individuals, as for large investors it is not interesting and only an enthusiast is willing to give them their money.

People will always invest. The goal-to preserve and multiply-has not gone away. Those who entered earlier and lost a lot, just invest now less and more carefully. And new investors are already finding new projects, life goes on, growth will be required.

Investing in ICO projects, we must also distinguish the situation, some suitable for long-term investment, some are only suitable for short-term speculation, and will receive it when it is good.

I have also mentioned that the majority of the new ICOs welcome big investors only. Yes, you can also join the project, but you need for it a large sum of money. I do not think that many guys can cope with it.

I think that at the moment projects receive a very small part of investments from private players. It seems to me that only projects funded by institutional investors will be success now. The players are scared. Fear of losing investment is much higher than the desire to earn. But this is my opinion ...

Normally, the investors that are making their money with it. Maybe bounty hunters as well, after they have earned enough funds to invest. But right now, we are facing the problem of no investment at all.

I guess 2018 year is a year of big invest funds and venture capitalists. Investors with a little sum of funds don't want to invest during these bad market conditions.
