Hi All! I have been using Electrum for about a month, there are a few transactions on my default wallet but today I'm having real problems with it. I installed with their Windows Installer file from their website. I logged in using my password, got a receiving address and then transferred some BTC to my wallet. It got 6 confirmations and I was about to transfer elsewhere but couldn't because it said my password was now invalid. Tried several times but it has just decided my password no longer works. Maybe foolishly I tried logging out and in again but now, predictably, I can't get into the wallet at all. When I use regular Electrum .exe file it takes me to an install wizard which no longer accepts my password. There are no other options.
I opened the Electrum Testnet file, went to file then new/restore to put in my seed and hopefully restore the wallet. The seed is correct; when setting up the wallet I wrote it down and then typed it when asked to confirm. The default wallet opened here confirms my seed is correct under when I go into wallet options but there is nothing in the wallet. Transaction history and my BTC is gone. Just looks like a brand new wallet.
Anyone know what's going on here? I went onto Electrum's site hoping to get some tech support but there was just a link here and an FAQ page which I didn't find helpful. I put money into an account and then the encrytion shuts me out! Any support that you can give me would be appreciated. I have tried reinstalling but the outcome was the same.

Testnet is like the name already says, a network used for testing. There is the testnet network and the "normal" network.

Have you tried to restore your seed in the Electrum (for the main network) instead of Electrum testnet?

'It' didn't decide anything. If your password isn't accepted, it is the wrong one.
Make sure caps lock is off and you typed in the correct password without spelling errors (e.g. check keyboard layout).

Transaction history and my BTC is gone. Just looks like a brand new wallet.

What do the addresses in the 'new' wallet start with ?
And what do the addresses of your old wallet start with ?
Is it the same ? If so, it seems like it is the wrong seed. If not, you just made a small mistake when importing the seed.

I put money into an account and then the encrytion shuts me out!

Did you actually try to create a new wallet file (on the mainnet) using your seed ?
Do you remember adding any 'seed extension' to your seed ?

LMAO, I'm such an idiot  Tongue - forgive me for wasting your precious time. I appreciate your responses. There is a symbol in my password that I can input differently on another device and I was doing that in Windows. Everything's cool now. Flu + small brain = doing dumb shit.

TryNinja: I was trying to use seed in Electrum (for main network) but could not find an option. When I open it there's just a install wizard that prompts for a password - couldn't see a way to use seed. Would you mind telling me how to do that incase it comes up again?

When you open it, it will show Wallet: "NAME OF YOUR WALLET" and a field to put your password, just change the "Wallet" field to anything else (e.g: wallet2) and click "Next" to start creating a new wallet.
