You are right that it may take a lot of time to get good profit from playing blockchain games. But not so rarely there is a chance to get some good profit just playing game in case you play the beta version or just at the very beginning of it's creation. Of course the more popular game becomes and the bigger amount of participants plays it, the harder to get high reward for playing it. From time to time I play blockchain games. And you know there were a couple or so where the reward was not bad, for example an Ethereum or a couple of ETH. It was in 2018 and the price of ETH was lower than nowadays. But nevertheless it was in real. There were some games that gave not so high reward but it was a bit pleasant. Everything depends on the game itself and creators' readiness to give high rewards to participants, and everything depends on personal requirements.

I have tried many blockchain games. And now a days they are trending. The first reason for me it's a new thing. And if everything go fine one day in game you will really own your asset in the game. Though at this moment most of the blockchain based games are 1st or 2nd gen. But but many people trying to make it better. And the last blockchain game I am fully addicted was townstar. I don't agree with the second point. Maybe I have not met games where you do not need to invest your money, but I have only come across such games. In order to earn at least a few dollars, I had to buy something in the game itself for the money to increase and have access to something that generates income. I think it's waste of time to play games for some dollars. It will take long time to make 10$. If you really want to earn money I can suggest you to work in bounties, do trading and join crypto events.

I haven't found any blockchain game that can be profitable. There hasn't been one for years, and while some claim they pay the players, the payments are so low that is not worthy of our time.
Also, some blockchain games require investment first and take a risk to mess with something you will have to become very skilled before any profit appears.
Some are not even games, just some NFTs that grow and you put them in battles that have no actual gameplay. And there is nothing guaranteed there either, you will have to buy NFTs spend a small fortune and hope that eventually many more will become interested and buy your NFTs back at higher price.
