The thing about 'data should be protected' is a bit of an understatement. We have been using different social sites and all they do is sell them to other people. Our birthdays, other personal info. Just that there have been a lot of restrictions lately in the first world countries that it affected the third world ones in cases of protecting such data. Even youtube does that. It's almost impossible in the modern world to live full life and at the same time be on the alert about what you are doing on the Internet. It's either you live like a hermit or you are socially active and almost everything is known about you.
