Umm am I just being really thick or has the "New" button in the Receiving Addresses window of bitcoin core disappeared in 0.17.0?

I think you need to press "Receive Payment" now, and that'll generate a new receiving adress (every time you click it).

See the picture below;

You can go to File > Receiving adresses and it'll show up there too.

Oh ok - thanks.

I'll find some more documentation about that window - I've never used it but I'm guessing clicking Request Payment does something more on the network than just creating a new receiving address in the old window?

No, it just displays it differently.

So after reviewing the following resources I can't find anything specific about the removal of that button but my knowledge of the architecture of bitcoin core is limited and it may be a change documented here necessarily implies its removal:

https://bitcoin.org/en/release/v0.17.0

https://bitcoinmagazine.com/articles/bitcoin-core-0170-released-heres-whats-new/

I did learn I can just leave all those fields blank to effectively do the same thing as the New button in Receiving Addresses used to do
