My personal opinion is that I like the idea that the man/woman/group who invented something so great is still a mystery. I hope he/she/they stay's like this for a long time.
But that just my thought.

What is your opinion? Reveal or stay a Mystery?

mystery! Bitcoin loses something with an Reveal... Satoshi is like a god for many members here. Revealing his identity just means revealing that he is not perfect...

I would want him/her/them to stay anonymous but as Bitcoin's popularity increases some people starts to become skeptical of the system. While others are reluctant to join in because of the mystery surrounding the creator something as important as currency/goods and worries of if the system fails or something along that line happens there would be no one to blame for. These are problems we have already seen surfacing in the community already, take the Gox accident and the supposed 'Bitcoin Foundation' scam for example.

Well he might get forgotten after awhile. I think if people really would want to know who he is, someone would already hack his accounts and trace his ip or something. For now it is nice to have some mythology and something to get excite about. It puts much more history into bitcoin community.

I would like to hear a bit from him, like how he feels about Bitcoin's progress thus far, but I don't want to know personal details about him. It ruins the mystique.

Mystery is best for building up hype and letting lose people imagination. If we know who is it, for sure some people will be disapointed. There is no one that can be liked by anyone.
So, it's better that way, but would be even better if he starts talking to us again anonymously like before.

Mystery, sure. But I wouldn't mind if he logged in here and started posting again.

People will continue to accuse him of being NSA, CIA, or a malicious hacker and this may hamper bitcoin's growth once it starts penetrating the mainstream.

It's not ideal that Satoshi is unknown - rightly or wrongly, it makes people immediately suspicious of Bitcoin - but it would be even worse IMO if Satoshi suddenly became active whilst remaining anonymous. That would be borderline sinister.

It should be all or nothing. Gone forever or a full press reveal.

Yes, It would be best if bitcoin didn't have a face. I remember a topic where some guy argued Amir Taaki shouldn't appear in media because he doesn't look serious or something. What if Satoshi was a fat nerd living in his mother's basement?

Bitcoin is a decentralized network, not sure if it was planned but not knowing Satoshi at this point is a good thing.  It forces developers to work together without a king to issue decrees.  It prevents the media from "attacking the man not the idea".  It shows that Bitcoin as a concept is larger than any single person.  Satoshi "left" (although I am sure he i still around under other aliases) and the project went forward.

Nothing to find there, theymos and others have mentioned he always used TOR.

Precisely. Just like the software is decentralized, the human management behind the software is also decentralized.

Reveal eventually.   That's the most likely outcome.
