BTC is currently under maintenance or experiencing wallet issues. Deposits and withdrawals will remain disabled as we work to find, test, and audit a solution. Thank you for your patience in the meantime.

This warning has been on for more than 30 hours. What's going on? Nobody can withdraw or make a deposit? This cannot last...

There are many issues that I experienced from Poloniex before and the one is having "locked withdrawals" that until now doesn't solve my issue. I tried to contact them but no response so, it's a bad sign that Poloniex is not a good exchange.

There are many people also experienced the same thing for almost months and I think this exchange is going to be scam soon and not a good idea if you hold a large amount of crypto on Poloniex exchange.

I'm not talking about "locked withdrawals". Poloniex is a great exchange which I've been using for years.
Doesn't anyone else see the message I quoted?

Poloniex glory days is over since it has being collaborated or bought by Circle which now requiring high KYC which is the reason I leave out before I do experience any problems on it.
Lots of issues when it comes to deposits and withdrawals.

To the message you quote, Just a simple read up will give you the idea on whats happening. They simply having that maintenance but we don't know on when it would be up again, I don't know
if you are aware on whats happening on current Polo.

I see, it's very weird actually. Bitcoin itself is performing as it has been doing all the time, which is without any problems.

It may be related to USDT based on the timing; perhaps that a whale or more than one have dumped a significant amount of USDT on Poloniex in the last days, and have withdrawn as much BTC as possible.

Another explanation might be that they are upgrading their wallet clients, which would be the least worrying scenario, so let's hope it's this one.

Yes, that's the most likely explanation. There was a problem with Tether 2 days ago, and Stablecoin was launched. There's no clear relation with BTC, though, but that may have caused huge trades volumes.

Please, don't reply to this topic if you haven't seen the message I quoted.
Everything else works fine on Poloniex. I made several trades without a hiccup today, and a big BTC withdrawal I made last week took barely 30 minutes.

Thread here - https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/9oovzw/poloniex_suspends_bitcoin_withdrawals/

I wonder about Poloniex's competence in general. The main coin I've dealt with on there is XEM. I can remember maybe 15-20 occasions when they performed 'maintenance' on its wallets, often for several days. At no point since its inception has it ever had a network or wallet problem.

Thanks for the link, at least, I see I'm not the only one who's seen the problem, but nobody else has an explanation sadly. I've seen a few maintenance operations, and none had bothered me so far. What I don't understand is why it's taking them so long to fix. Their credibility is at stake! BTC withdrawals and deposits are the most important for an exchange! At the very least, they should tweet about the issue.

BTC deposits and withdrawals are now enabled.  Expect deposits to be delayed for a few hours as we work through the backlog.  Our apologies for the extended wallet downtime.  We are dedicated to improving reliability and minimizing disruption in the future.

Well, it's over. Everything's back to normal, but frankly, I had thought they had better people to fix problems. I think BTC deposits and withdrawals were impossible for 60 hours, that's way too long!

It depends on what they were doing. What should be done is to have them communicate with their users in a clear manner, because all their vague notifications do is cause confusion and feed fudders to spread nonsense.

I have already seen people on Reddit talk about Poloniex being hacked and for that reason disabled withdrawals. This is the fud Poloniex could have prevented by simply stating what is going on in the background.

I would have expected more professionalism from Poloniex, especially with how much of a sensitive issue it is when exchanges halt withdrawals. Undecided

Yes, you nailed it. Considering the amount of money Circle paid to buy Poloniex, they should invest in a PR officer to communicate, to explain things when something's going wrong.
