This topic was written in order to educate the audience of the forum and to ensure the anonymity in the network.                                                                               Original thread

Perhaps I'll start with the prehistory. I have been using the Internet for a long time , when spam with the goods I was looking for not so long ago began to pour into my inbox — I tolerated it.
When advertising on sites was based on my recent search, I also endured.
I recently realized that all my traffic was monitored. Such a news disturbed me, and I began to look for a way out of this unpleasant situation. The fact is that, there is always a risk that traffic will be intercepted, analyzed and, as a result, my private keys will be stolen and my personal data will be used against me. This really annoys.
Or for example, here is a situation which has happened to our forum member Vadi2323, because it is not pleasant when some kind of FSB employee rummages in your mail and hacks your account. Now there is time when some kind of of FSB employee can knock on your door because you have exchanged bitcoins with a person cought in money loundering, or when had changed cryptocurrecy to dollars for bestchange, the dollars stolen from credit card were sent to you, and now you are a defendant.
Therefore, security in the network is a very important thing, and with constant use of cryptocurrency so much the more! I believe that this is the first thing that costs to take care of when buying BTC!
In conclusion, having visited many sites and forums, having re-read the pile of articles, I gained IT Operating System Tails..

Tails (The Amnesic Incognito Live System) is a LiveCD Linux distribution based on the Debian Operating System (formerly, the distribution was called Amnesia and was based on the Incognito OS).
All outgoing connections go through the anonymous Tor network, and all non-anonymous connections are blocked. Tor encrypts traffic, which means that the provider will not be able to find out which sites you have visited, nor will the server know your real IP address. Also, Tails does not leave traces on the hard disk — it runs in RAM, before shutting down, the RAM is erased using sdmem so that no one can restore its contents from the recently turned off computer, so there are no traces on the main OS after turning off the computer. It is better to install the operating system on a USB flash drive (if something happens, you can always start formatting with a hammer on the drive).
System requirements total 1 gigabyte of RAM and the ability to run from a disk, flash drive or SD card.

Link to the official website where you can download Tails and see the instructions.

P.S. By the way, I met the information that the well-known Edward Snowden made the journalist Glenn Greenwald (who handed over the secret documents to the NSA) use Tails.

Instructions for creating a flash drive with an installed OS Tails using Universal USB Installer

Step 1 Get 2 flash drives with a capacity of at least 4 GB and format them into the FAT32 file system.
Download the Tails ISO image from the official site.

Step 2 Download and install the Universal USB Installer on the computer and then connect the No. 1 USB flash drive to the computer and run the Universal USB Installer.
In the drop-down menu, select "Tails".

Step 3 Click “Browse” to navigate and select the Tails image.

Step 4 Select the USB flash drive number 1 in the list and tick the item "We will format ... as FAT32".

Step 5 Click “Create” to start the recording process.

Step 6 In the window that appears, click "Yes". When the process is complete, click "Close".

Step 7 Universal USB Installer shut down, turn off the computer. Turn on with the connected flash drive number 1 on which the Tails is installed, select the flash drive number 1 as the bootable media. Wait for the Live Tails version to load.

Step 8 Connect the No.2 flash drive to the computer where the main system will be installed.
When finished with the preset, in the upper left corner of the desktop find the menu "Applications".
There select the submenu "Tails" in it "Tails Installer".

Step 9 In the application, select the item “Install by cloning”.

Step 10 In the next window, select the No.2 flash drive from the drop-down list and click “Install Tails”.

At the end of the process, close the window and turn off the PC.
Pull out the flash drive number 1, on the flash drive number 2 already have a ready-made image Tails, from which you can boot and work.

I don't understand how this differs from tor?

The same way Windows differs with minesweeper.

Tails is a Linux distro with tor. Of course, you can add tor to any other distro, as is the mission of any distro, its simply "done already". Its especially useful when running the live iso in a public computer. For technical intent and purposes, it is Debian, so the hardware support is as good as in Debian (stable). So if you want to find if your wifi works, try to search Debian + wifi device model. It may, or may not work by default in the likes of Ubuntu, which tend to have a little better hardware support (more blobs included by default).

Experienced geeks LOL just install Windows on USB, and everythink ok. Then Windows go in the RAM without persistence each time. Windows works also much faster then. Wink

Except you cannot let that windows touch the internet or it might get compromised in seconds, so its not remotely the same thing. Persistence is always optional, and never required. You can use an optical disc if you feel paranoid. Since running windows this way is convoluted it takes an expert to pull it out, while just putting the TailOS image to a thumbdrive can be done by anyone. TailsOS is periodically updated, which your solution isn't, just a few days ago the latest Tails version 4.2 came out, your method you only have yourself to update things, and i doubt you'll even find the time to maintain it yourself and will probably use someone Else's anyway.

The main difference appears to be the desktop. Tails uses Gnome and Whonix uses XFCE.
(And Tails is from Ireland while Whonix from Germany, but that probably doesn't matter).

XFCE is lighter and much less touch oriented.

In addition, there is Septor, which uses KDE Plasma instead.

KDE is a heavy feature rich desktop environment, but still slightly leaner than gnome (Gnome is simply the heaviest).

Seems kinda paranoid to me honestly, i dont think i could do this. Seems like a whole lot of effort honestly, just dont do sketchy stuff lmfaoo

Just cuz you don't have a use for this level of protection doesn't mean others don't. You don't have to downplay its value or imply it's for sketchy people... if anything you should appreciate the fact that you find windows and chrome comfy

Gnome 3 is the heavy one, that's why i keep using Gnamo 2, nos is better to know as Mate, is light as XFCE and powerful as KDE.

This is not the firs Operative System based on anonymity, we can find some ones like Qubes OS, Parrot Security OS, Discreete Linux, Kodachi and some others.

But i don't feel the anonymity comes from the os, it comes from the way you use internet, and that can be easily configured on any other linux distro.

I had never heard of it before so it is the same thing as Tor for Windows only that applied to Linux it also seems easy to configure and if it guarantees anonymity I will definitely try it even if Linux is not my favorite operating system however it remains a useful thing to try

Dude, you're wrong! This isn’t the same thing as Tor for Windows !!!

Tor is a browser.
Windows is an operating system.
Tails is, in my subjective opinion, the best, known anonymous operating system in the world!

Tails is, in my subjective opinion, the best, known anonymous operating system in the world!

you are correct bro!
