So i've account on CEX.io for few years. I have confirmed identity vertificatin (KYC).

However they ask me to fill also their application form pdf.  I uploaded it to my google drive: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1fO7ypHnzsNVaX-W1W4uTboBUJ_2YQwoB/view?usp=sharing

They ask info about source of fund, employement, phone number of employer, facebook account etc...

Has anybody filled this?

I'm not fine with this.

I have a cex.io account dor years too, and I was never asked for that document. Maybe you need high limits?
Anyway cex.io is an old exchange and they have a good reputation, I believe there is no problem. Make sure it is a real cex.io demand (not some phishing site)

If you're not fine with it then don't fill it in. They're just trying to protect themselves from a regulatory point of view. It's the same things a bank would ask you when you're withdrawing, only it's easier to pass this on to an exchange as a first form of defense otherwise they could face some litigation issues. Facebook account and phone number of employer seem a little fishy, especially the facebook one, are you sure it's a legit form? I don't see why your facebook is of any relevance.

They and also most other big exchanges I know, ask those questions, at least if you reach or require a certain withdraw/deposit/trading amount.

But indeed, Facebook account sounds strange. I also filled such a form back in 2015... maybe they changed some questions, but I doubt Facebook account is a required field.

But of course you should write support and check if this is legit, before sending it somewhere.

This "prove your identity" thing is getting ridiculous. Those crypto exchanges will get more personal info than CIA and FBI combined.I'm glad I don't use CEX.io anymore. If some other exchange website asks for such information,I would delete my account there ASAP.

Simply, if you're not comfortable by it then don't provide the info. I guess they really need to comply to some regulatory framework (KYC/AML). I'm not using CEX.IO, but I was "forced" for additional info just for the sake of exchanging my funds from bitcoin->local fiat.

That's a usual thing that is asked on verification but only when you want to increased limits. Our local exchanger does have that kind of question and Im filled it because I really used them service regularly and they are based here in my country. But for lowered limits, that is not necessary and just a simple verifcation is enough. When dealing verification with an exchanges outside of my country, I do not filled that kind of info but only the verification thru ID's.

Is that a mandatory thing that you need to comply in cex.io whatever the account level or something like that? If not then you can skipped with that.

Well at least you know that it's legit at this point. It's then just a question of if you trust them with your documents or not, or how much you really need to be verified for the higher withdrawal limits. If there are certain things you're unsure on providing you may be able to ask if there are alternatives etc.

If you have already given them your full name, address, passport, driver's license, Social Security Number/Taxpayer Number, email and bank details, then your employer's details and Facebook profile are trivial extra information - they already have all they need to find those things out anyway and completely steal or sell your identity, if they so choose.

Cex.io is a very shady exchange. Check out their Filing History here (https://beta.companieshouse.gov.uk/company/08757996/filing-history), particularly their most recent accounts here (https://beta.companieshouse.gov.uk/company/08757996/filing-history/MzE4NDczNjEzOGFkaXF6a2N4/document?format=pdf). It makes for worrying reading. Their most recent accounts put them at almost £2 million in debt. Also pay attention to the notes at the end:

"The company's fixed assest are currently located in a war zone and are not accessible."

"It is possible that the assets will be unusable either by way of damage or obsolescence."

"Included within other creditors is a loan from Canton Business Corp."

Canton Business Corporation was the managing shell company of BTC-e, the exchange that was seized by the FBI for money laundering.

it's better not to fill it, maybe it's a new policy or it could be phishing, it sounds weird in my ears, cex.io asks for data that doesn't make sense,

if you are an old player, let's nostalgic with me, CEX.IO is an old exchange that is still legit until now, formerly cex.io trades cloud mining, so if you buy cloud mining and save it then bitcoin will increase and if you need more money then you can resell cloud mining on the market, but now cloud mining is no longer traded on CEX.io, I hope you still remember this

That is strange though. I also have an account on CEX and I have never been asked to fill any document like this which you mentioned. It is not a must you fill it, and even if you have to fill it, you really want to be careful what you are filling in it, or you at least will want to confirm if it is really from CEX. Probably, the first question I should even be asking is how you got a hold of the form.

Was it directly from the website, and what option did you click on that made such form to pop up? It is not a very new question anyway, most especially when you are a big investor, so I may not be surprised.

Well, it is always going to have to be a choice; it is not like it is a must. KYC though, is something we would have to just deal with in the long run and for some of the exchanges that are even allowing KYC, I would say it is a good thing for them to understand that one way or the other, as regulation starts kicking in the more, the possibility of seeing KYC becoming paramount is there. I really do not know why people have problem with identity verification anyway, it is just some AML policies, but whichever way, it is either you just have to abide by some rules or you just do not use the exchange.
