Hi! I have a question but first Im gonna tell you my situation. So here,

I received a token long before it was listed in an exchange. Few months later I checked  the token on Myetherwallet (MEW) and it said that the contract address was changed or has been updated.

Does it mean that I cannot use those tokens with the previous contract address?

you can use it if it's not locked but it's better to ask developers about how to swap your tokens from an old contract to a new contract because the token on an old contract is useless

Same has happened with me before, it usually happens when they feel someone cheating with their distributions.
Tokens get useless forever if developers change contract address, there is no way to make them useable.
The only way to do it is to ask for help in their official tepegram group so that they can replace your tokens with new ones

the only way out is that you have to ask this developer token. because only those who have authority in the aspect of the token development, like changing the contract address. if there is no response from them in the near future, it can be said that the ICO project token is a scam. but don't assume too fast, keep trying maybe there will be a way out and certainty about this problem.

It happens to me twice but there should be the announcement of the swap, I'm so lucky that the two developers obliged to swap my token, this is normal so you should follow from time to time updates from the devs from the coin you are holding sometimes, there is a time frame for the swap, you will end up not getting your coin swapped.

Have you checked the latest news from developers? if they have changed the contract address and you should get the new token and if you didn't and then you must try to ask the developer of your token about this problem. If that was a token swap and then try to ask do you can swap your old token into the new one or not.

I think there was a token swap in the process which may be automatically swap or manually , but if it was manually swap and the duration in which the process token place has passed then am afraid you can't get the token back but if it was automatically swap then you should have another token in replace of the first one. You can ask the developer if there is still a way out.

That's one of the trending act to most projects nowadays, they come up with different excuses and change their contact address just to increase the supply of their coin and later announce another burning of tokens which is a way of scamming people. But seeing a changed address in your wallet there will be replace of the same token just try and check the whole tokens in there

You should seek for the telegram channel of the token.
they will have an airdrop with the old contract.
They will make sure that your token will be changed for the new one.
I had this situation before with CLEARCOIN.

If the contract address is changed then the token will be nullified, means it will be having no value & cannot be used. If the team has changed the contract address then there should be a swap happened which probably you have missed. Sometimes you have to manually swap the tokens instructed by the team probably you have to swap through an exchange or sometimes the ICO team just send you new tokens of the same amount as long as you are holding the old tokens in the wallet for which the private key is held by you not an exchange address.

If the previous contract address has been hacked, then they could have changed it into another one and holders of the token would have to swap.
The same happened to TIO. (Trade) recently. Some tokens were stolen by hackers and those hackers started dumping the tokens on an exchange. So they had to make a fork, but halt transaction on exchanges (moist especially kucoin).
So, you can check the social media handle of the token, which is where they most times make announcement.

I think easily the swap of token would have been done automatically
You just have to figure out more information about the token on telegram
The token can’t be used unless you are able to get the new contract

Don’t panic
Just visit the telegram group and I hope the swap has not closed yet ?
You need to check on your portfolio often and often
