OVERVIEW

nOS is a virtual operating system that introduces a new, decentralized internet. On this new internet user data is safe, and it only goes where the user wants it to go. nOS solves key issues surrounding dApp development, deployment, discovery, and interaction, allowing for true adoption of decentralized applications and blockchain technology. Because applications can choose to make their back-ends fully open-source and transparent, this new implementation of the World Wide Web is defined as the Open Internet.
nOS Client and its development suite is already available and can be used to browse & build decentralized applications. See the community-made dApp Top 15.

nOS Client is also required to participate in the Token Sale (the token sale itself is a decentralized nOS Application).


WHY nOS?

There is an inherent problem with applications that are hosted on the traditional internet. Usually, modern applications require closed-source server-side backends in order to maintain security, privacy, and functional efficiency. This leads to an inherent lack of transparency. End-users have no insight into what happens to their personal data nor any control over how it is used. This situation is being taken advantage of by corporations and applications of all sizes, who can implement intrusive data tracking methods for purposes of e.g. unauthorized monetization of user data or influencing political campaigns.

nOS allows users to access a new and decentralized internet. With nOS, dApp developers can host their applications in an open and decentralized environment using NEO smart contracts, thereby giving users control and transparency over how their data is used.

nOS aims to make it safe and easy for consumers to start using decentralized applications, and features an automatic GAS to NEP-5 conversion to prevent users needing to buy and trade different tokens to use different applications. nOS currently runs on desktop, with mobile support planned in the future, and functions like a web browser and app store combination.


WHY BLOCKCHAIN?

Blockchain technology introduces a new ability for projects to make key elements of their applications’ server-side backend code truly transparent, giving end-users complete insight into what happens to their data. Applications can also take advantage of new technologies that are provided by blockchain, such as smart contracts, verification of data legitimacy, self-sovereign digital identity, and tokenized digital assets. Applications that deeply integrate with blockchain technology are often referred to as decentralized applications, or dApps.


WHY nOS TOKEN?

The nOS Utility Token forms the backbone of key platform functionalities on nOS platform. Its utilities include native integration with nOS Filesystem, nOS Name Service, dApp Gateway, and Decentralized Authority. All described utilities of the nOS token are powered by staking mechanisms and Selective Supply Increase. INCENTIVE MODEL: SELECTIVE SUPPLY INCREASE (SSI):
nOS implements a Selective Supply Increase model that is beneficial to all quality participants of the ecosystem; including contributors, application owners, and end-users. Selective Supply Increase (or SSI) introduces a periodic increase in the circulating supply of the nOS Utility Token. Tokens that are added to the circulating supply are only distributed to contributors to the ecosystem (applications, voters, and network/hosting nodes) as a means to incentivize qualitative participation in the network.

The nOS protocol serves as as a layer over the traditional internet, which lets applications isolate themselves from the centralized internet. Accessing HTTP through nOS decentralized applications happens on a permissioned basis (unless the dApp or HTTP URL is whitelisted by the end-user).

The new decentralized Internet is good, but it is not really the Internet. If he works on the basis of an existing one. Platform - yes, but not the Internet.

From my impression here, I wonder if they will ever get their minimum target funding here. The marketing is weak considering that they are competing with a large number of new projects getting funds from potential investors here. Are they going to pursue the development even if they raise small amount of money? Do they have their own private investors that can back up their developments?

If they are not greedy, that amount is more than enough to do many things for the project. Very few can raise such amount. So they should be thankful to acquire that money. They need to show something tangible to their investors.
