Sending "large" amounts of money between banks

I need to send what I think my bank classes as a large amount of money by bank transfer in the UK. I want to know of the fastest way to do this if there is one (I don't have a chequebook - my mail slot is shared so it wouldn't be safe) and can't really take out the money from an account and put it straight into the other as it's quite a bit of walking).

Sending the money online yeilds an error of a monthly spend limit being surpassed.

Edit: I managed to solve the issue by finding a friend with a card reader but that seems like an arduous task, is there a better way?

I think wire transfer is the best way to transfer money to another account when time is of the essence.
Also, there are other options for the type, there are many different services with which you can quickly transfer money. Online services like Google Wallet and Venmo do allow free transfers. If you are just interest in the money changing hands quickly, then this method is almost instaneous, but the money goes into your account with these services and it can take a day or two for you to get it.

Didn't know someone with clarity of mind still use Paypal.

OP why don't you check Western Union? I find their fees quite acceptable.

Hmmm, xe said that they offer free money transfers (I thought it was just international ones but maybe it isn't), I might look into that one as well as WU they seem to both be quite well used.

Cashier's check, move your money yourself?

Cashier's checks are normally printed at the bank and are "bank checks", so they should clear if you actually get them from a bank. Also, they have a cool lil' stampy thing and you can void them and shit.

You could probably hook up both banks to paypal or some third party service and move your money fairly slowly via that process.

ACH / SEPTA transfers are standard for North America / Europe.

Crypto could be possible if you're also bothering to exchange currencies, otherwise you might as well just withdraw the cash and move it yourself.

I was wondering if cashiers cheques are a thing, only time I’ve heard of them is from watching Ghost.

I use tokens when making transfers involving large sums.
The conventional internet transfer is limited to small, everyday amounts.
But for transfer of larger sums you'd need to obtain a token from your bank at a cost. And it generates codes for your different transfers.
