So putting a whole coin ecosystem together even competitively advanced with even the best economies of the alts coins and even bitcoin itself is a fairly simple proposition at the moment. What will change that going forward or will it always be this way?

Use different words to explain "putting a whole coin ecosystem together".
If you mean "make an altcoin", well that's easy. Getting people to use it for anything other than extremely risky speculation, that's tricky. [/quote]
Well for example the mazacoin was released with tremendous success. And any alt that has some offical cooperative/community behind it is seeing market caps in excess of 500k. How long will this be the case or do we reach a limit at some point in the future.

These aren't lasting ecosystems. They are just people gambling. So what bases does bitcoin have for not being considered just a gamble?

it's too early to dismiss the technology. It's a little like how websites used to be. At one time you had to hire a "pro" to have any kind of real presence on the web, but now we have facebook, wordpress, instagram, and countless others. Many businesses just have yelp and a facbook page and that's about all they need to get the word out. it's very different from 10 years ago. You don't really have to understand much except type, point, and click with these technologies. Bitcoin will get there too. What will it look like? Who knows, but I'm sure many entrepreneurs have ideas in their head about how to make all this easier. Give it time.

Altcoins are a gamble that people will adopt and use cryptocurrencies and pick one that offers no real improvements over the one with the most hashing power and the largest moat.
Amen. However one thing we can be certain about - is that cryptocoins are here with us to stay; forever until the end of internet.

A casino, perhaps, for speculators. For people seeking entrepreneurial opportunities, it's more like a goldmine, or better yet, a fertile, undiscovered continent.
