HI,

I am pretty clueless with bitcoin transactions. I have had bitcoin sent to my blockchain address, but it has been sitting at 0-3 confirmations for hours. I guess this is because the sender put such a low fee. I really am in a bind and need to have this confirmed so I can have it sent before 12 am my time, which is about 3 hours from now, If anyone can please help me out here, i would really really appreciate it. Thanks!

This is the bitcoin transation # 8f744ffcad0936542ea76302f9a14030018717f30b8394f5f13a5fb82e8a31b4

Thanks again!

Make the outgoing transaction you need to make but put a higher fee on it if it doesn’t confirm in the time you need it to. Where have the funds come from also? An exchange? Why the urgency in paying, are you buying something or did someone ask you to send them money because if its the latter, don’t of you don’t know them...

When were the funds sent? I’d suggest it should confirm within a few hours at most with a fee like that (but I haven’t sent anything myself recently).

Thanks so much for the reply! So i can make the outgoing transaction before this initial transaction confirms? If i do this and make a high fee,  the first transaction will confirm quickly? Then the second transaction will automatically confirm shortly thereafter? Sorry,, I really dont know  much about this, but i really do appreciate the help!

It should work that way yes. If you send a transaction with a high priority fee, both transactions will exist in the same block on the blockchain (if you’re lucky). I’d suggest sending the second transaction with a fee of ‘within one block or similar’ if you desperately need a fast confirmation. If not, go out and get some fresh air or do something else, come back in 3 hours and it’ll probably be confirmed.

I put a really high fee for the next transaction, so I am guessing it will be faster.

This was a bit of an overkill regarding the fees.
As you can see at https://jochen-hoenicke.de/queue/#0,2h, 10 sat/B would have been enough to get your transaction confirmed within the next 1 or 2 blocks.

86 sat/B was waaay to high. This could have paid you 8 or 9 transactions.

The next time, check the mempool (https://jochen-hoenicke.de/queue/#0,2h) and / or look at https://www.buybitcoinworldwide.com/fee-calculator/ to pick a suited fee.
