Today I read some interesting news that the Warren Buffett holding Berkshire Hathaway started investing in fintech start-ups for the first time, although they had never done this before and avoided such investments. As you know, Warren Buffett is an ardent opponent of Bitcoin and cryptocurrency in general. Do these investments say that the famous investor is starting to change his point of view not only about modern technologies but also about cryptocurrency in general?

Regarding that, I read this:

Mr. Buffett declined to comment on the Stone deal. “It’s entirely Todd’s,” said Debbie Bosanek, Mr. Buffett’s assistant, in an email. “He never comments on anything that Todd or Ted do. They have total autonomy.”

Maybe he himself isn't as open. Either way, just because they started investing at fintech doesn't mean they'll jump right into crypto. Fintech is already risky by their standards, it would seem, so I would expect them to only take one step at a time.

Either way, crypto doesn't need Warren Buffett's approval.

Would that change their mind on their opinions regarding bitcoin and cryptocurrencies in general? It's highly unlikely in my opinion. maybe warren buffet has started to read cryptocurrency investment and already knows more about the impact or benefits that get. anyone I think can be in a situation like this, but warren buffet has provided changes that may be followed by anyone who wants to invest in cryptocurrency.

As we all know that warren buffet is one the wealthiest person in the world and he is having billions of money with him, It is really good for new startups which are looking for start their own business but not having fund with them. Can you clearify that he is going to fund blockchain related project or just normal. because he is hater of cryptocurrency.

maybe if warrent buffet does that for investment I think it is a good thing and can attract other investors who are easily influenced by warren buffets, because we know the warren buffet figure is that it can attract many investors that is an advantage for cryptocurrency.

Warren Buffet is fundamentally a business man and although he might not agree with a technology, he is in the business for the money and he would invest where he thinks he would make that profit, this is a huge step though if it is true because other investors would follow in his footsteps.

It wasn't forbidden to change ones point of view if he/she discovered that what he think wrong is right. Cryptocurrencies massively slowly in motion to dominate fiat system in the future. The process takes time because the perfect time is not radical execution. It is gentle and at the right time.

how do you know that he is an opponent! of bitcoin? based on what he said in the past?
that doesn't mean he is against bitcoin. as a matter of fact in my experience  those who talk about bitcoin the most are the ones that are interested in it the most and want to have more of it. so for all you know Warren Buffet may be one of the biggest bitcoin whales already. and accumulating more.

He used to hate Bitcoin and Crypto, but eventually, if there is too much profit to be made, he will be forced to adapt to the new status quo. A man of his financial standing would be an idiot to not want to cash in the next gold rush and high tech economical advancement coming through Fintech and the Blockchain. You either adapt to the new paradigm shift, or you get left behind in the obsolete and old systems that no longer serve the majority on this Planet. He will have to make a choice sooner or later and I am sure he has many advisors on board to tell him what is the next best thing cooking in the financial markets.

This is indeed a good news. This not because Warren Buffet is now entering the crypto scene, he will not do any advancement of the technology, but because of his popularity which will drive more people to invest also on such speculative fintech startup investments.

are we sure this is even a legitimate news?
in the past we have had a lot of this kind of news when some shitcoin wanted to advertise and get newbies to fall for their schemes and invest in their token so that they did what we call "name drop" where they basically make up some fake story and pump their coin with a fake news. and the market sometimes reacts positively.

Warren Buffett is a very outstanding person with a huge capital and of course if he sees a prospect in the development of a startup why not invest in it. It's logical.

investing in some startup or a company even, does not mean investing in cryptocurrencies and it certainly doesn't mean they believe in the future of cryptocurrencies or support that token that you saw. that is assuming the news was real not a fake one trying to pump the token.

You should add the link to that article. I am a fan of Warren Buffett. He really does not like technology, he's a classic. But it seems that his views have changed. He is investing in technology companies like Apple and he seems to be headed for Cryptocurrency.

Warren Buffett invests in fintech does not mean that he was interested in Bitcoin and cryptocurrency.
I think it will be hard to change his opinion about cryptocurrency.

Oh come on, let the old man rest in peace Grin The people whose says the bitcoin will never end up well, what more do you expect from him? This is all fake news. You should just forget about him because he's too old to understand the benefits of cryptocurrency, we don't need him on board, period.

Now, many companies want to use blockchain. They don’t want to spend a lot of time developing their own blockchain. It’s easier to invest in startups that suit them.

If you develop your  own block chain is these also mean that you will adopt into the mean stream ? If development of your own it is difficult if you're system don't adopt with the mainstream or in the existence.

it's funny, and warren buffet is very unstable, like a child. first, he refused, hated, and even said that crypto is a bubble, not a good place for investment.

I'm sure, everyone who now hates crypto, they will recognize the crypto positive value in the future.

I also read that Warren Buffett has repeatedly stressed that the latest technology has interested him for a long time. In the future, a group of financier plans to significantly expand investment support for start-ups focused on launching intelligent platforms for financial transactions and storage of information. Today, the investment attractiveness of startups is growing at a rapid pace. Therefore, I am not surprised by the decision of Warren Buffett. Moreover, we all know very well about the future with AI))) Apparently now is the time for investing precisely in this direction in order to have power with AI in the future Grin Grin

Didn't he infamously call bitcoin "rat poison"?

no
charlie munger called it rat poison years ago.

then recently. warren buffet made a smart remark.
the interview was 'when charlie munger called bitcoin 'rat poison' when it was $100, what would you say about it now its $10k'

the smart reply was ratpoison squared
(emphasis on the squared... think about it 100->10,000) if you dont get it
100x100(meaning 100 squared)=10,000

as for the rat poison.
in wall street and londons square mile. if your in the financial life, you are living in 'the rat race'

bitcoin poisons rats = bitcoin is poison to wall street traders (think of the positive spin on the meaning)

unfortunately for buffet,

he can't do much more with his money for startups from changing them looking amateuric towards looking more like expensive and wasteful ripple.

so its not great, for him

his money cant change a lot in the outcome of this market,

as the perfectionism bubble (ressource intensive and wasteful teams/projects) will also soon pop

I think he starts to open his mind to realize that bitcoin and cryptocurrency existed and I am sure as an investor, he will always search a new way of making more money. He cannot deny that cryptocurrency can give him more thousand dollars especially if invest his money with cryptocurrency. The investment section starts to change into a new form and right now, the investment does not come from traditional investment but also come from the digital investment. Ready or not, he should realize about this, and if he wants to make more money, then he should invest in cryptocurrency. I am sure that there are more famous investor people was investing in cryptocurrency, but they are "shy" to tells other people that they already invest in cryptocurrency.

I really can not find a connection between Buffett investing in StoneCo (Brazilian payments platform) and Paytm (Indian mobile payment platform) with any sign that he would invest in cryptocurrency. He has several times publicly expressed his opinion regarding BTC and I think this story should end back in 2014 when he say : "Stay away from it. It's a mirage, basically,"

We can all see how smart he was then when price was from 300$ to 700$, today is above 6000$ and it was 20 000 at the end of last year. How much profit a person is lost just because was listening WB? Let's take an example of a small investor who invest 3000$ and bought 10 BTC at the end of 2014, three years later the value of the investment was 200 000 $ - is that a mirage?

Cryptocurrency investment is very speculative, if they want to be serious to invest in cryptocurrency then they should ready to loss money in it. This investment type is very risky, they are don't like cryptocurrency, aren't they? . Actually this investment type is also profitable if they have big amount of money to manipulate/play with cryptocurrency price to gain profit in trading.

There's no connection to it if he's into start ups.

He'll remain as he is because he's too old to understand the technology. He remains favorable with traditional investments.

If Warren Buffet start to decide jump in crypto market, it will be great news for market and i am believe it will be a game changer. Warren Buffet is patience investor beside that it will increasing investor confident

Buffett is investing in Blockchains, LLC. A company that bought 67,000 acres of land in Sparks, NV, surrounding Tesla. They have biometric scanners for your hands.

I have mix emotions about this one and its seems that money is the only reason and the motivations about Warren investing on anything related to crypto. So I'm sure that he will stick with his principles that bitcoin is a "poison rat". But we all know that it won't change a thing because whether he admit it or not, crypto/blockchain will be the future.

Of course, this is good news for the entire cryptocurrency world, since Warren Buffett is one of the richest people and is followed by a large number of people.

I am sure that what Warren Buffet has said all this time about the bitterness of bitcoin is only the way he is a big financier to manipulate prices. behind that, I am sure he and a group of large investors take part in running the crypto market or trading and investing in crypto. just waiting for the time that these conglomerates will heartily acknowledge the greatness of bitcoin and accept it as the future currency.

billionaires and millionaires never get rich by telling others about their real plans and publicly showing their hands. they get rich by being wise and secretive when they get in while everyone else is looking elsewhere. and bitcoin has been one of the best examples of it. while everyone is afraid because of FUD the "wise money" is being invested in bitcoin silently.

Wise old Warren Buffet infamously said "Bitcoin is Rat Posion"  How much egg will he have on his face if/when people find out he has a lot fo Bitcoin and probally a good stack of other crypto currencies, he did not make Billions by being stupid and im sure even in his twilight years hes still wise enough to know easy money when he sees it.

If this is really true then maybe its a time for celebration, because this famous billionaire Warren Buffet has been oftentimes talking about negativity of cryptocurrency specially bitcoin.and now since he was investing in fintech, maybe a chance putting capital in this market will soon be coming.

yes, we hope his decision does not change the conditions and he is committed to his decision, I am happy with his decision, but I am also worried that his decision will have a bad influence on the crypto world.

Crypto will not be destroyed just by losing an investor, but crypto will be destroyed when it loses many investors. In fact, bitcoin is still a popular point of view in investment and technology, and it should be noted that fintech is an investment that is more risky than bitcoin.
