As the amount of investment is low, I recommend you to join "all in". I recommend NEO as a coin. For now it's only 16 $. I think it would be at least 200 $ a year. It's about 12x. If we calculate it; It makes a figure of 12,000 $. Not bad.

Well, first of course do not invest in one coin , invest more than 50% in cryptocurrency , 10 percent in ico , the rest of the funds I would have let in trust management!

Where did you earned that 1k? If it came from investment then you should stick with that but if you do earn it on your work then better or I would suggest to invest on BTC all the way
since you are still new and unsure on your decisions towards crypto investment then this would be the ideal move for now and you should gradually learn up another possible ways
of investment and that's the time you do make diversifications.

I would not bother if I were you and just buy bitcoins with all the money, and then forget about them for 5 years. Through this time they just can grow and you will be happy. But it's not exactly)

First let me just say that I am not a professional, but merely an observer of what is going on in crypto space for the last year. So, if I had to give advice and try to be helpful, then I would say to invest in top 10-50 coins/tokens with the most of the portfolio in bitcoin. In your case, maybe 30%. 10% in Ethereum maybe and the other 60% scattered around in different coins.

It is hard to tell at this moment. Any wrong investment decision at this moment would result to regrets and huge profit loss afterwards because the market is still unpredictable and at times like this wherein the market value of cryptos are at their worst, waiting for the recovery to happrn would be amuch more advisable to be safe from things as such.

It's not a good idea if you wait for it's bottom line and then buy. It is just a waste of time cause definitely we don't know when, in fact, the current price of Ethereum is still good to buy as it is cheap by now than of previous months.
If they really want to risk and invest in crypto,  they may start it now as all prices are still in low.
