Let's improve this one!

Sometimes Bear markets are the best chance to take action. Does anyone want to do some easy research on the sale prices of small cable/dish TV networks?
BTC TV!

The Tonight Show just did a joke about BTC turning 10 years old, did you see it?
Did you just see BTC on NBC?
When it goes on YouTube, please post a link, if you want to.
Every time a block is mined, a certain amount of BTC (called the subsidy) is created out of thin air and given to the miner. The subsidy halves every four years and will reach 0 in about 130 years.

New topic: Don’t you think it would be better to start a new thread instead of confusing the shit out of everyone?

Old topic: I think it’s more interesting that the criminal, Raymond Redington, on the show The Blacklist uses bitcoin for all of his criminal activity.

it is more sad than interesting that the media has only been portraying bitcoin as something that criminals use. so far every movie, TV series, Talk shows that i have seen talking about bitcoin has only shown it as criminal's currency!

BTW bitcoin is not yet 10 years old Wink

Well not all of them. I've seen two Japanese comedy shows thus far that mentioned it. Both characters who invested money into it went broke lol. I don't know if it's just because they're comedy, or if the general Japanese public actually see Bitcoin that way. Whatever though, I'm always amused when Bitcoin finds its way into pop culture references.

but you did bring up an important psychological point.. most people, including youself only seem to remember bitcoin when mentioned in negatives... maybe its due to the choice to channels/shows you prefer. or that 'there is no such thing as bad press' because it stuck in your head that btc was mentioned in such and such manner. thus your mind atleast remembered it

and lastly yep bitcoin is not 10 years old.
in my view the august 2008 registrations of websites about bitcoin. thats the conception date
in my view the october 2008 release of the white paper about bitcoin. thats the first ultrasound photo of it

the january 2009 date when bitcoin was actually released into the world and it came to life.... that was the birthday

IMO, Two reasons can account for the media's perception.  Bad news sells more so they will more often tell the bad side. On the other hand,  bitcoin is such an amazing phenomenon that the goodness of it that is,  peer to peer payments is relegated to the background and what is promoted is the latest investment where you can turn to a millionaire overnight.

When it goes on YouTube, please post a link, if you want to.

It does not bothers me anymore, the more Bitcoin rises the more negativity will be there on the mainstream media.

They all are controlled by big Financial Institutions and panic has started since 2017, they clearly know that the end is not too far.

Such negative news are now not impacting the markets. So, sit back and relax.

it is probably because i don't watch that much American TV which is why i have missed these. i don't follow the news either Cheesy
i have actually been watching BBT but i don't remember seeing that episode! and it seems like it only talked about bitcoin as an investment, as in getting rich and all that.

The influence of money is what controls the media and therefore the content of that news. So there are no neutral media.
Many TV shows deal with issues from non-neutral viewpoints, and thus people are entrenched in the ideas "that media created" about other countries.
Once the government's view of cryptocurrencies has changed, we will see more positive.

2. Ellen DeGeneres mentioned bitcoin https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LS2BMxeHsv8
I do not think Ellen knows much about Bitcoin, She mentioned that toast wallet as a bitcoin wallet.

There are a lot of TV-shows that have the same wording "just general information"

Bitcoin is mentioned fairly frequently on TV.  I think it will soon reach the stage where it won't really warrant a new topic every time it happens.  I could understand if they dedicated an entire segment on the show about it, but a brief namedrop isn't really substantial enough these days.

Also, Jimmy Fallon is terrible.  I don't know how people find his "comedy" funny.  Here it is if anyone wants to judge for themselves.  I didn't laugh once through the whole 5 minute clip.

I saw Bitcoin on TV much more often when it was near $20K.

it is because whenever there is a rise going on people make a lot more noise than usual and that noise even reaches TV. and that is one of the many reasons why bubbles such as $20k shape up and also why there was a lot of newbies in bitcoin because of it which crashed the market to this level.

There is a FOMO brewing...

Television likes to declare itself and the daring news that they have to grow ratings and since bitcoin is a global trend, they are trying to make the material that would become more popular. I never listen to television. They do everything only in their favor to become popular.

I haven't seen that but I have seen CSI mentioned bitcoin in 2015, way before things went crazy because of the bullish run. That was the last time I saw bitcoin on television since I haven't checked up on most news outlets and local TV ever since. Also, when I read or watch about bitcoin in mainstream TV or in the news, it appears to be positive at start then goes south right before the airing finishes. It only went positive when the prices were nearing $20k and almost every media outlets are creating news reports regarding that.

I saw Bitcoin on TV much more often when it was near $20K.

Not surprising, around that time the general public was discovering Bitcoin, you could pretty much hear about Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies everywhere, it was probably the biggest boom the market has seen in a very long time. Plus, the fact that the whole thing about Bitcoin blew up during the uptred made people jump into the bandwagon, even the news on the tv, it was the it thing in december 2017.

It's understandable that we're not hearing about Bitcoin that much nowadays, the hype around cryptos has died down, so there's no reason for tv channels to start talking about something that not people care or have forgotten. Things will be completely different once the prices goes up again.

Even I don't believe in the news on TV too often. If a news is only for building public opinion, then I will build trust in myself. And if I may hope, TV should broadcast news about BTC (when the price will rise above $ 10k to 20k). Thank you! Grin

I really want to have cryptocurrency tv online with 24 hours live! Wouldn't be great for all of us? We can check the price from there and having also last news online. If they show us the news about the latest ICO projects milestones the market would go higher. If they would give some forecast about altcoins that would be great as well..
