As you all know, our recent PLATINUM release included a rarer variation. Most of the coins (60/70) were minted in our usual coin-flip orientation. Additionally, 10 coins were minted in the rarer book-turn orientation. (Odd of finding the rarer variation were 1:7.) We thought this might add a fun surprise to the release. However, it's quite natural that some customers may have felt a bit disappointed upon opening boxes only to discover the more common fine platinum coins. While that reaction is understandable and easily empathized, we at the Bitcoin Penny Company believe that ALL unboxing experiences should be full of excitement and happiness with all possible expectations exceeded.

With that said, I would like to invite the community to offer feedback on whether our upcoming 2019 GOLD release should include a few rarer book-turn orientations (10% of the release = 10 coins = 1:10 chance) as with our recent PLATINUM release.

We slash prices on almost all our products when BTC spikes For example, in 2017 when BTC started spiking through the roof, we slashed all our prices by a whopping 75%! (See the post HERE.)

I hear what you're saying, and I understand your grief about it. I often feel the same way. Many sellers are happy to keep the same BTC price even while BTC is sky-rocketing. That's not me, and that's not how our company does business.

FWIW, we honored the .1 BTC price on all our gold pre-orders, even for those customers (more than 50% of our total customers) who waited until BTC lost 1/3 of its value before paying. We lost thousands of dollars worth of pre-order funds due to many customers waiting 2+ weeks to pay. We cannot continue doing that in the future. I'm sure you are aware that ALL BTC prices are based on USD, no matter the product or company. Mints do not accept BTC as payment, so our company must calculate the cost of minting each coin, then convert that into BTC. That's why all collectibles on BitcoinTalk are based on USD. That have to be. And when BTC crashes, we have two choices — take a loss or raise the BTC price to compensate. And when BTC spikes, we have two similar choices — keep the BTC price (which feels a little greedy to me) or lower the BTC price to compensate and help the customer (which is what we do.

I'm with you on the idea that it would be great if all bitcoin collectibles were 100% based on BTC. Unfortunately, mints (and most other production houses, such as manhole cover foundries, for example) only accept USD. Until that changes, we will never have a true BTC collectibles market.

These are not "error" coins. However, we did mint two different coins, one rarer than the other. (FWIW, the 2018 platinum coin is our only faux-error coin. All other error coins in the BP™ lineage — and there are only a few, to my knowledge — are legitimate error coins, meaning they were minted that way accidentally and are the product of errors made by the minting companies.)

Right-facing eagle = 90 coins.
Left-facing eagle = 10 coins.
Total mintage = 100 coins.

The quality of these coins, I'd have to agree with Moo Moo (LC), they are nothing short of absolutely spectacular. Smooth as a baby's bottom & shiney as the sun. Will no doubt be a 70 grade. I am thrilled. Thank you Chris for being so meticulous and demanding on your mint staff. We all appreciate you time, and love that has gone into these little gems. From every one of us....THANK YOU. And, we luv you. Keep the passion.

And, yes, I draw all of our normal doodles myself. (Not always by memory, imagination, or still life subject. Often, I'll do a quick google search for an interesting photo of what I'd like to draw, then I'll draw what I see. But they are always hand-drawn by me. Except for our annual Daddy-Daughter Doodle Project. During the annual DDDP, I co-draw 10 doodles with my daughter, she colors them as she likes, then we auction them away with all proceeds going to her art supply and/or BTC savings accounts. It's a fun project, and the bitcoin community is very generous in their support.)

Chris, you make some really cool things.  I took some pictures of my gold penny and the packing tape that sealed the box (for the doodles) to use for a Wall Observer avatar hat.  Whether you "wear" it or not, the hat is yours.
