it is a proper action and is always done to protect its users, just like a country that prohibits crypto or ico to protect its citizens from fraud. so actions like this are normal and always done to protect and make the user always comfortable.

More protection is good, However i hope google won't censor good projects because of that new policy restriction on web store.
For now their webstore is really full of suspicious softwares, so it might be a good move

It is very good if Google Chrome has designed this new thing because remembering a lot of hacking and losses that have been experienced by many parties, of course, and this is highly anticipated by everyone.

Even metamask that can be considered as a trusted add-on was getting delisted from gogle web store. I guess this will be a very difficult thing for crypto developers. Remember the restriction will be more complicated than this time.

If they end up not doing that, I can imagine the number of crypto users they are going to lose as a result of the vulnerability of their browser and its extensions. Nonetheless, I am not surprised though that this is coming, as they need to give an assurance to users that they are trying their best to at least make sure that they tend to experience some level of security in their activities on the website. Chrome has been lagging with this and I hope they are able to come up with a tight rule that will work.

I think that's a very good move Google has taken forward for our protection from cryptojacking. I think this is their way of making up for their unfamed secrets kept on data leakages early this year. Well done to them if that is the case.

It's a bit worrying that Google have expected so long before implementing these security measures which they should have implemented since the beginning.

This should have been done a long time ago but it is still better late than never so kudos to them for finally stepping up. I hope they also impose a stricter rule for apps on google play where a cryptocurrency converter app that steals info from users was recently discovered.

It is about time they actually implemented that, considering the rate at which Google has been a lot vulnerable to attacks when it comes to their extensions. Looking at how some people recently lost their tokens and Ethereum recently from a crypto jacking that occurred based on chrome extension has really made a lot of people to switch browsers, which I am sure Google Inc., must have realized and trying to do everything possible to not get sidelined as a result of that. Also, it is a good thing to see the search engine tightening the rules when it comes to what appears and how to at least eliminate phishing sites.

They have to.

I'm pretty sure that they are aware that tons of scammers and cryptojackers are showing on their search engine. This action proves that they are really taking a look at the crypto community. And even without those incidents, they really have to protect the chrome users as its a proper action.

they should have done this a while ago not today, it is shame to see them acting this way after a thousand of peoples got hacked because of those extentions.
nevertheless, we can not deny that it might be a good sign for cryptocurrency.
while we are in bear market and peoples are afraid of it, googles gives us some of its light to lighten the market and giving us a hope after all this fear.

I'd say well done to Google for that one. They have been through a lot of controversies this year on data leaks issues, it's just about time they compensate for that but, can we really trust them again especially when it comes to protection and security? Just a random thought I have here.

It's the responsible thing to do actually IMO.  Crypto seems to be awash with scammers lately, i guess that is to be expected due to the extensive bear market that we have had.  When things get like, greedy folks gets even greedier.  I think what this response from google suggest is that they are interested in cryptoshpere enough to have to take steps to protect its users.
Lately, there has been news of some other social media platforms coming down hard on crypto content creators or users on their platforms, google's step is a positive one.

I did not even know this was possible, it seems as if chrome gave hackers an option to cryptojack people (which is a word I just learned) and than took that away and claimed itself the hero that saved people from the cryptojacking.

If chrome didn't allow hackers to do this on their extensions to begin with than there wouldn't be a problem of cryptojacking to begin with, who they are protecting from what exactly ? Themselves ?

This is a total PR moved to first set a bad guy on you and than saving you from the "bad guy" and than asking for acknowledgement of heroism. I am sorry but I am not gonna fall for that, google was the reason and chrome was the weapon for these people and google should actually apologize to people for giving this platform to the cryptojackers or whatever they are called.
