UPDATE: We'll be forking from Bitcoin block #555,555 which is estimated to occur December 27th/28th!

There are currently 4 mining pools that will be mining Bithereum upon launch and benefitting from the Difficulty Reduction window for the first 20,000 blocks! Read more about it while you still have the chance! https://medium.com/bithereum-network/bth-mining-difficulty-reduction-window-8d0e2e535627

About

Bithereum is an upcoming fork of Bitcoin in combination with Ethereum’s technological roadmap structured around Proof of Stake consensus to create an unparalleled peer-to-peer digital currency. Bithereum represents two chains in one coin; by hard-forking Bitcoin, and hard-spooning Ethereum to reward them with BTH, Bithereum will be the world’s first hard-spork. For more general info about our project you can view our bitcointalk ANN: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4738533.0.

Difficulty Reduction Window

Prior to Proof of Stake, Bithereum will begin as a Proof of Work coin with an Equihash 144,5 mining algorithm for at least a year. To kick-off our pending launch in late December/early January, we would like to invite mining pools to have the opportunity to become verified BTH mining pools.

In an effort to build our mining community and secure the network, we will be including a massive difficulty reduction window (starting at 0.19 difficulty) for the first 20,000 blocks upon our mainnet launch ~December 28th. It is estimated to last around 24 hours, however it may go WAY faster depending on the amount of miners so it is highly encouraged that you begin mining as soon as the hard fork happens in order to receive the maximum rewards. After this point, Equihash <144,5> will kick in along with the LWMA Difficulty Adjustment Algorithm, which adjusts the difficulty after every block.

Verified Mining Pools

If you are interested in becoming an official verified mining pool for Bithereum, you can register for that in the link below. Doing so will allow you to be listed on our site as verified and make you a top choice. This is our way of building a strong mining community from the get-go and rewarding early participants for believing in Bithereum!

Bithereum is also officially on testnet, you can find out more about this here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5063939.0

If you have any questions feel free to PM us here or email us at info@bithereum.network. Thank you.

Hi all, we have officially announced the date of our hard spoon snapshot of the Ethereum blockchain, December 12th! This will lock in the BTH allocation for ETH holders based on the ETH:BTC ratio at the time and we will announce the Bitcoin block we will be forking off of. Once this is completed, the mainnet build will be pushed live so that miners and people running full nodes will be able to begin syncing. The hard fork will occur approximately 2 weeks after the hard spoon (~Dec 28th) , then mainnet will be live and mining will begin!

We've officially mined Bithereum's "genesis" block (block 555,555) and we are excited to say that this coincides with Bitcoin's genesis block's 10 year anniversary! We have since stopped mining after the second block (block 555,556) and are now working on recompiling our builds and finalizing our mainnet infrastructure.

We will be providing pools with our 210 GB bootstrap file along with our full nodes they can sync from by the end of tomorrow. Pools can then begin syncing and once this is complete, Bithereum's mainnet mining will officially commence. Once the network is up, it will go straight into the difficulty reduction window!

Bithereum is here!!
