To be frank I don't have much knowledge to this forum since I'm just a newbie, but I doesn't count this reason as an excuse! I want to know all that I should learn. Since Merit is a must what am I going to do to have this kind of necessary? I know some of you think I just annoy others but please give me a chance to have a better understanding on this. I am willing to learn and who might know if I succeed to this I will also share the forum, the knowledge and the information you gave to unworthy like me. I am looking forward and very thankful to all those who are willing to help me!  Smiley

Make high quality posts. That's it.

If you only care about getting merit somehow (there is no magic formula, so get over it), you will not get any. Just use the forum as anyone else (who isn't here to spam to join bounties) would use, and you will end up getting them.

Don’t bother is the answer.

Instead write good constructive posts and get recognised in the community, then and only then will the merit find you.

I checked your post history and it seems you just go and spam Off-Topic board. Don't get me wrong, I'm supportive of newbies as long as they contributed something to the discussions. If you're purpose in this forum is to earn through as bounty hunters then yes, at least 1 merit is needed to rank up to Junior Member. However, merit is not a 'must' in this forum, specially for newbies who really wanted to contributed big in this community. You just have to look at the Development & Technical Discussion and you will find newbies getting a lot of merits but they doesn't care. If you don't have knowledge then start going around and read and ask questions in your local board. And if you wanted to have a inspiration, just look at your 'kabayan', theyoungmillionaire. Who has set the bar high for Filipinos to emulate around the community.

I checked your post history
I tried to do the same, but apparently I've got all the sections he's posted in on ignore, which usually means members like OP are posting mainly in spam sections.  And I'm not sure how much merit is given out in Off-Topic, but I have heard tales of that section being the scuzz that feeds off the scum living at the bottom of the bitcointalk barrel--with threads like "Whatz ur favorite colour?" and the like.  Perhaps it's changed since I've last seen a post from there, but I have reason to doubt it.

Two things, OP:  1) There have been numerous threads in Meta asking the same question you asked here, and they all have more or less the same answers in them, and 2) There's no magic formula or any way anyone can tell you how to earn merit.  Either you're a good poster or you're not.  One good piece of advice is to avoid threads that are like 100 pages long such that if you post in them, there's ZERO chance anyone is going to even read your post much less merit it if it's good.

With your writing "style" I would suggest checking out the local boards and try your luck there.

You can read TMAN'S guide to getting merit and I guess it is for better to read that as your stepping stone too, but if I was you don't bother on getting merits as jackg just said rather just be as you. Other has failed because of it, to get merits they end up to plagiarized written contents resulting for them to be nuked forever.

That's your problem like there. It's just like saying "oh I don't know anything about this job as what I only know is how to clean toilets, but you should promote me to a chairman position!".

See how stupid that sounds?

Teach people something useful.
It seems to work.

I received most of my merit points because of one thread.
(BTW. Thread was created before implementation of 'merit points').

Best wishes.

Firstly communication is key,you need to be able to communicate in proper English for others to understand your point, the thing is no matter how bad your post is, if it's at least readable/coherent,then it could at least be a bit acceptable by the community

You'll definitely have to fix your English I think, before considering about earning merits, judging by this post you've scribbled down here.
Or if you have a peculiar local board, you can try earning some in there

Also try clearing your post history,it has all it takes to discourage anyone from wanting to merit you, cos it looks obvious what you're gonna do after you gain that one, precious, elusive merit............

* Make HQ posts
* Create something useful that the community can use, and release it on BitcoinTalk. This can include projects, open source projects/code, extensions, websites, etc.
* Create your own tutorials explaining certain services/software

At the end of the day, if your content is worth a read, you'll get merit. The best way to get merit, is to not focus on getting merit.

BTW, notice how I said your own in bold. Please don't be those members who copy/paste from other sites bringing the content over here. That's a super easy way to get a ban. If those understood anything about SEO, they'd understand how destructive that is to the community just on the basis of SEO alone.

Effort
You may have issues coming up with something quality, it probably could be overlooked..
You probably could be unable to give us a merit analysis(which is usually highly merited) as you're probably not that much knowledgeable on the forum
You could also not have the "best English in the world/Top notch communication skills...

Probably all this could be overlooked if there's a bit of effort in whatever you're passing on to this very community....
And in every effort there at least happens to be a wee bit of quality,no matter how little, because you'll put work into it/thought into it and time into it..

Think of it this way, If you had put time into coming up with a useful suggestion to help the community,or delved into one quality discussions or the other, instead of coming up with an effortless/redundant post probably you could have struck some "weak" Grin chord by now, and such user might have dropped you at least one merit for your efforts, probably not for the quality inherent in them

Going by your post history this post is one of the few post that is not a one liner just wondering how you want to get merit with such a post history.

Your account dated something around June and you on 50 plus activities that mean you not all that new probably you enjoyed the period of no merit for junior member to participate in bounty era and you never even worried on how to attain merit.

The simple way of earning  merit Is putting the idea aside and read to contribute positively

Really shocked once visit your post history. May be I need a week to wake up from this shock. Most likely this thread hasn't written by OP. I believe he/she got help from others. Almost post is less than half line. But OP nicely create this thread to gain merit shortcut. Spambie better than OP. I don't know what was the OP intention to joined this forum. I believe if someone report post from OP history most of them will be deleted due to zero value and pointless post.

However, if you (OP) really what to contribute yourself then improve your posting behaviours. Delete all spam post from your history by yourself. Motivate yourself and follow some quality and useful poster. Easily you can detect good poster by counting merits.

Edit;

In order to get merits, you have to know your craft. And have indept knowledge of your post topic and any topic you reply to.

In order to gain merit, you need to make a reliable posts which can give others an additional thoughts or an idea that they never knew.

I suspect spinning post. Is it not ? Correct me if I am wrong.

Snip
Please avoid quote full thread.

In order to get merits, you have to know your craft. And have indept knowledge of your post topic and any topic you reply to.

Don't post simply to get attention (like this one you've made)
Of course by following up certain threads and making decent or half decent replies you could get a couple of merits, but if you're really ambitious and plan on taking high, you'd need indept knowledge.
And try to have fun while doing it. Positive mentality.

In this forum, you will get a lot of things you need to know to become a reliable forum member aka Merit, This is it.
in this case you have to start by discussing the rules, basic posts, for reviews to help you so that you CAN OBTAIN the contents of the bitcointalk forum, BEFORE you start the Process for review Merit.

You then know the depth of field and focus, which explains more steps, uses quality, useful posts, and meaningful discussion topics, before other members give you Merit, by showing the reliable moves you have for the forum andanother bitcointalk member.

In order to gain merit, you need to make a reliable posts which can give others an additional thoughts or an idea that they never knew. You may post depends and based on the discussion. You can gain merit if you are really into your post. What I mean is that your post isn't just a non-sense from nowhere.

<…>
Your posts are all one-liners, and the only one that exceeds that length is precisely the OP of this thread. There is absolutely no chance to opt to being merited with the little time and effort you place in your posts.

You may have better chances on your local board, which seems to be Philippine, although if you maintain the current posting style the chances are not going to shift in your favour. Take a look at some of the most merited forum members there to see what they put into their posts, and try to get a grasp of why they are being merited for their posts. Id suggest taking a look at theyoungmillionaire and finaleshot2016 on your local board.

A a new member of the forum,  your first job is to read the forum rules and the stickies. Then look at the differenet threads that have come up. Read more than what you post.

Quote

No.
Having a lot of knowledge does not mean you will get merits. That is upto the merit sources to decide whether your post is good or bad. If they have no merits at hand then also you wont get any merits. Its a question of being lucky and making constructive posts.

Do not ask for merits as well - you will reach the merit sources' ignore list. I doubt you will get any merits for making this thread because these answers have been given in several other threads as well.

Merits are not handed down because you ask for them.
And making a thread asking about a topic that has been discussed extensively would not also help.
Time to stop thinking what the community can do for you, but rather what you can do for the community.
How you can provide relevant and helpful information.

Your post history is not going to score you any points, so for starters put effort (like the one you out into the OP) into your regular posts.
Avoid posting in spam boards as some merit awarders have those boards in ignore.

I`m reading this thread and never cease to admire the fact that a huge number of higher rank users answer questions that have been asked an infinite number of times. Newbies, read the previously discussed topics! You ask questions without any pre-understanding, waiting for clear instructions, using which you hope to earn as much as possible on the bounty campaigns. And then you complain about a bad attitude towards newcomers. Higher rank members aren`t required to explain for the hundredth time what is in the sticky topics (which you should read before creating discussions). But they do it to help you. And from your side the least gratitude will be at least some diligence and desire for contributions to the forum.
