What do you think: will California become a new Mecca of cryptocurrencies with a new governor - a crypto-enthusiast?
There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, which will follow the rules of the network no matter what miners do. Even if every miner decided to create 1000 bitcoins per block, full nodes would stick to the rules and reject those blocks.

Just to add context:

https://www.ccn.com/california-midterms-see-largest-us-state-elect-pro-bitcoin-governor/

But no, it's not going to help unless it translates into actual pro-crypto policies. Even then, he can't do anything about federal taxes, which are quite hefty.

We will see if he can make a change in California regarding the beliefs of people in the technology of bitcoin, If he is the most trusted by their leader then he may persuade him in pursuing bitcoin to the country, But if he is a pro in bitcoin technology then others might think that Blockchain technology would be great in California, This cannot be immediate because he doesn't really have the total authority but the power to talk it over with the leaders on the government so all we can do is wait for further news ahead.

It depends on whether or not the governor wants to promote BTC within his agenda.

He could easily fund a public education program regarding crypto.

Given enough time and the drive to do so they could eventually at the state level accept BTC. It could start with accepting BTC for any state level licensing. They could create a secure platform where municipalities could begin to accept payments in BTC.

The options really are limitless, it just takes vision and again the desire to make this a cornerstone of their time in office.

mecca, probably not but it may help to get some certain areas of business get permits easier
you have to realise that its a system ,one person, if its a governor is just a part of a huge mechanism
it doesn't mean that if a governor plays or likes chess there will be chess clubs times 10 in the area Smiley
same goes for crypto and cryptoenthusiasts with power
but the tendency is good and lets all hope that more open minded and crypto oriented people get elected all over the world
and bitcoin is worth 10000000 $ by that time  Grin

Well I must consider Canada for letting some local exchanges to Operate in their country for the community or to those who like to get involve with cryptocurrency. I have read some articles that Canada will be one of the good place for cryptocurrency. I have read that in this article http://www.digitaljournal.com/business/new-cryptocurrency-exchange-launches-in-canada/article/527293. Probably Canada will be one of the stronghold for cryptocurrency in the near future.

I never doubt also about california. Well, this is for the good of cryptocurrency and we should be happy for this.

What do you think: will California become a new Mecca of cryptocurrencies with a new governor - a crypto-enthusiast?

California always seems to be the most forward thinking place in the United States.  All the tech companies and progressive people in California make it a place for innovation.  It's only a matter of time before the giants like Amazon and Google get involved in the crypto sector.  I would like to live there myself but the housing market has gotten out of hand.

it could be, it could be not. If the newly-elect governor wouldn't create some policies that pushes development regarding bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies and possibly invite more startups to establish themselves on the Californian soil, this will not happen. I like that the governor is a pro-bitcoin advocate, but since he already got the position, he has now the means to make something happen for crypto developments to boom. I just hope though that this man really honors his word and do something for bitcoin and the cryptospace in California.

is it just me or has the west, US/western Europe seemingly dropped the ball on crypto? seems like Asia and to some extent, eastern Europe is trying to get "in early" on crypto.
US as a whole (so including California) seems pretty restrictive/"anti"

may be electing such a pro-bitcoin governor could help to grow acceptance more, but I don't think that will bring something huge right now.
