According to the research firm MarketsandMarkets, the AR market is expected to grow from $11.14 billion in 2018 to $60.55 billion by 2023, thus why Facebook is launching its AR glasses, putting the company in competition with companies such as Microsoft, Apple or Google. However, it seems like experts fear the issues linked to the fact that the company has been facing some privacy concerns. So, how likely are you to buy Facebook's newest product?

If they would contain that Facebook "tinder"-version and shows those people in real life, that would be cool. Or very frightening.

Never trusted Facebook, and never liked their platform. The product may be good, but I will not buy it on principle

Definitely not. They aren't a trustworthy company. Just look at all the breaches they've had this year.

Or is it more frightening than cool? If so, wouldn't it great if another company with more sense of ethics was to conceive a similar project?

I will get dizzy after wearing the AR glasses to watch the video. I don't think this thing is suitable for me. I like playing games with people next to me,I don't like closed AR glasses. So I don't think ar glasses will be popular. After all, many people prefer to communicate with real people instead of virtual worlds.

Facebook is scary though, you will never know what they do with your data. Personally, I would not try it.

I know right. But, Facebook must be getting a lot of business since it's getting more involved in the AI business with other tech companies. Are they all teaming up to have more control over us or will their efforts stagnate?

If it could do most of if not all, my smartphone can do, then I’d get a pair of AR glasses. It would be awesome to go hands-free right?

Unfortunately, there will always be privacy problems surrounding anything launched by Facebook. I don't trust them one tiny bit. The AR glasses too seem destined for an indefinite stay in the surplus goods warehouse.

I suspect a day will come when AR glasses would be useful, or maybe if you traveled a lot they might be useful. I really can’t think of a single thing I would use them for now though.

Maybe it would be great if combined with VR, but I don't want Facebook to get a monopoly in the tech sector, not after the Cambridge Analytica scandal.

I’d consider getting a pair. The Google Glass was purely for business, so I’m sure Facebook will add some fun and social features. And regarding privacy issues, we’re still using Facebook, right? I think everyone’s just being paranoid.

If I got so much of an extra money, I would love to. But if I don't have enough to spare, I would spend it with something else on my priority list. These AR Glasses are just luxury and I can get in a day without it.

Yes, people are still using Facebook but the number of users has been steadily decreasing. What makes you think that their AR glasses will be well received? And don't let me get started on people getting wary of the company's involvement in AI developments...

I think the question we should ask is why do we need it in the first place? If our smartphones can already do basically anything, why purchase an AR glass? The Google Glass never took off before, right? If Facebook is serious with this, then I hope they make sure it has features that only this AR glass has because Facebook users may not be on board with it, right?

I will consider buying art glasses when they don’t look so geeky. Most ar glasses on the market today look dorky imo.

I think when Google Glass came out, a lot of people were intimidated by it. They looked like goggles that scientists and IT professionals would use. But if Facebook comes out with more sleek-looking glasses with social features comparable to smartphone apps, then I’d probably give it a go. I wonder how much it will cost though.
