So your 1970s technology costs $85?

I can buy a 12 TB drive for $400 - about a trillion times cheaper than your best price per byte.   Roll Eyes

: )

We're afraid of that 12 TB will be lost when severe conditions occur, such as a house fire.

So build a swimming pool and put your hard drives in waterproof cases under the water.  Still much cheaper than buying your product.

it is not $85! it costs nearly $100 which is the cost of the plate which is the place holder ($89.59) plus the cost of letters which are sold separately ($10.59) Shocked

not to mention that a much better and older version of this already exists and it is called CryptoSteel https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=977486.0

and as the cherry on top the char set they are selling contains 3 sets of each character. so if your private key contains more than 3 repetitions of a certain character you will have to pay another $10.59 for a new set to just have that extra letter!
example (private key = 2):
5HpHagT65TZzG1PH3CSu63k8DbpvD8s5ip4nEB3kEsreAvUcVfH
has 4 capital letter 'H'

We've already mentioned that the base unit doesn't contain a charset. Charsets and base units are sold separately.

We don't agree with you about your comparison. Price of other products vary from $80 to $200 and their storing capacity is 96 char at most. Our base unit can store 170 characters, so you can store up to 3 separate private keys, for example.

So per byte price is much lower than other products currently. Charsets are also cheaper.

I like this product idea, I had a similar idea months ago where I was looking into laser metal engraving

I have invested in 12 currencies, so that means, I would need twelve of them lol =]

Lesser should be sufficient. What's your preferring method to generate your wallets? Do you use seed words or separate private keys?

If you use separate private keys, 4 units is enough since a SteelDisk can hold up to 170 characters. If you use seed words, you can generate wallets for different coins with the same seed phrase; so even 1 unit might be enough to store your holdings.

Check here (https://bitcoin.stackexchange.com/questions/54956/is-it-possible-to-use-the-same-bip39-list-of-seed-words-to-create-addresses-for) and here (https://iancoleman.io/bip39/)
