So today I used my new cold wallet CoolWallet S. Before I explain about my experience with this wallet I want to share with you guys about my everyday use of crypto.

I live up in Berlin, many restaurants and shops accept crypto ( Mainly BTC and ETH).

Usually, when I go out to eat with friends or family, I bring my Ledger that holds the majority of my crypto holdings and pays with it.

The shop has a computer where you  can connect the ledger with USB cable and the software on it, every time I do it there's one guy who asks me what am I doing and when I explain him I pay with Bitcoin he laughs and says "so this is the new money??"

How is it good if for paying you need a computer with USB and it takes around 1-2 min, why would I use it if I can just swipe my credit card in a second"ץ

I always use the same lame excuse, in Bitcoin it's safer, and you don't need a third party, which to extend it's a good reason but not enough for the majority I guess...

Anyway, I saw a new cold wallet on a Reddit post around 2 weeks ago, after I read about it I decided to give it a shot!

The wallet I ordered called 'CoolWallet S' which is a cold wallet that looks and feels like a normal credit card, same size, and everything.

It has many security features  (Well, it's considered a cold wallet), and it uses bluetooth technology to make transactions so the payment is exactly like a hot wallet, just scanning the barcode and paying with an app on your phone, after pressing a bottom on the card the transaction is confirmed and that's all, I still have my ledger and some funds in it ( CoolWalletS yet to support all coins like Ledger ).

After using the CoolWallet I realised that Ledger feels more like a safe than a wallet, because wallet has to be mobile and simple to take money from it and put money in it, which both are a bit annoying in Ledger ( if you have no computer next to you it's impossile to get the public key unless it's written on a paper or somewhere else ).
If you use crypto on a daily or weekly basis this is a  must, at least to check it out, these wallets should co-exist like people can have a safe and a wallet, people can have a ledger and CoolWallet to going out and paying outside comfortably

More info about the CoolWallet S you can find Here

This is good news for the Bitcoin holder actually, especially can be downloaded into our mobile android phone.
In fact, I only used for cold wallet was Electrum and now I think I also try to use this one I guess its kind of a cool things to me too
actually. It was nice and great, I honestly downloaded it into my android phone which is required a cold storage card.

This is an obvious shill post for the company, be extremely cautious of any claims made by this user. I also would never click on a link submitted by this user.

It's a bad shill post at that. Why would I want to carry all my funds around in a cold wallet, even if that cold wallet is easy to use? The entire point of a cold wallet is secure, long-term storage. My cold wallet with the majority of my funds is stored securely (like you would with fiat in a safe or a bank), and my daily spending bitcoin is stored on a mobile wallet (like you would with fiat in a wallet in your pocket).

Sure, this "CoolWallet" looks cool, but it doesn't actually achieve anything.

It's because hardware wallets like the Trezor and the Ledger Nano S are wallets for cold storage. Meaning, you keep majority of your funds there for long-term storage, not for spending. You simply send probably a hundred dollars to your mobile wallet for spending purposes. And yes, mobile software wallets are significantly less secure, hence you only send amounts that aren't significant.

The CoolWallet definitely looks great, I'll give it that. But it's quite gimmicky in my opinion. Should spending wallets be THAT secure? The hassle you get from using devices like that as a hotwallet isn't worth it in my opinion, as you're expected to only store pretty small amounts on spending wallets anyway.

Really like the wallet, and it looks great, really. But the thing is like what others said above, a cold wallet is a cold wallet where you reserve your crypto offline, it's a bit hassle carrying this thing(cold wallet) if you can just use your smartphones when sending and paying crypto to any local stores.

Sure, this "CoolWallet" looks cool, but it doesn't actually achieve anything.
I seconded.

Plus who would carry around their funds on an unproven device that sends what would have to be sensitive data over Bluetooth? Bluetooth! Are we for real here?

Definitely. I don't get it at all. There's a good reason why Trezor and Ledger is only accessible through USB. The chances of having man-in-the-middle attacks are simply just significantly higher when using bluetooth or anything wireless. I mean, if you want convenience, then why not just use a software wallet on your mobile for spending?

Its obvious look at the image the cool wallet seems a card which I think he just created this post to market this wallet and it might be a fake wallet.
Honestly, never heard this wallet and only ledger nano S is a trusted and secured cold wallet for crypto and trezor wallet is best for alterantive.

If you can make a video that you own this and how this thing works maybe some people here might trust this wallet but still its interesting wallet I hope that they can develop a wallet via wireless not on bluetooth because I heard there are lots of viruses coming from bluetooth this is just what I heard to my friend before.

Actually, Ledger released model Blue which had Bluetooth support a long time ago. However, none of the built-in apps took advantage of this feature. Why both Ledger and Trezor haven't released proper Android apps which would work well with their devices? Support in Mycelium is a bit out of date (no SegWit) and the app itself became shady. I agree that there are plenty of good software wallets for smartphones, for example, Samourai which can be used for on-the-go payments.

It could be cool in a year or two. Takes a bit to make sure their aren't going to be security issues, the concept is very decent though. It looks like the use case is "put a small amount of your digital gold in this wallet to carry" which makes sense not to use it as a cold storage wallet.

Agree op sounds shilly but who doesn't want this to work for two people to pay each other down the road? Even if something like this is flawless in 5 years, it will solve huge problems.

Would like to see future releases have 3 or more cards available rather than have to worry about losing the 1 card.

A dummy wallet (with no crypto) is always good to leave lying around the house as well...
