there is no chance the reporter is lying. reporters are definitely not prone to lying to get a good story.
he confirmed telling "I am no longer involved in that and I cannot discuss it" so she didnt lie here, also this means that he knew about what she was talking about, this guy is not dumb.... see in this Video he said " i ahve nothing with developing, I was just an eginneer doing something else" http://youtu.be/-oRq7e8GMII so he knew abou the developing part. but the funnier thing is that here he said : " I have nothing to do with Bitcoin, I never worked for the company...." http://youtu.be/kk2Lys4CuDU?t=48s so now Bitcoin is a company... this guy is just trying to hide something.. According to the article i read he also said this in the interview: Asked if he said the quote, Nakamoto responded, "no." "I'm saying I'm no longer in engineering. That's it," he said " I wasn't talking about Bitcoin but about being an engineer", so she asked about Bitcoin clearly but he heard engineering ? Stroke victim... The year/date of the stroke eludes me. Anybody here able to point out when it happened?

Stroke victim... yes, I feel sorry for him having a stroke, I really do, but he seemed in a perfect physical and mental status when he asked for his free lunch, he also did speak very well for the AP journalist, he understood the questions very well and he cleared his name with wise words. the stroke didn't seem to effect him... I would say he is afraid, which is normal if he is the real satoshi... He was articulate enough to get his point across at the Temple City council meeting.

If Satoshi Nakamoto was a group of people instead of an individual it would be the dumbest thing ever to name that group after one of its members. And he's 60+ years old, what are the chances someone of that age comes up with an idea like Bitcoin and has the technological know-how to actually help develop it?
very likely my ex-boss was also in his age, an IT engineer and you cant even imagine what he could do, we were amazed sometimes Real technological innovations usually come from people between 20-40 years old, but there could be exceptions I guess. Anyway I'll just drop the age argument, the main reason I don't believe he is Satoshi is because of his writings and because I don't trust that journalist one bit. There is simply no proof that he is Satoshi, and until we have real proof I think we should remain some healthy skepticism about all this. Also I don't actually care who Satoshi is, and I feel sorry for this man who suffered from a stroke and is now being bombarded by the media and others due to this.

I am skeptical more than you, she linked him up, without any real evidence, he fits so damn good, I was curious about Satoshi's identity, but I never paid so much attention, once they brought the story up I cant seem to let it go, sorry I might be selfish with this attitude, but this is how I feel about the whole situation. Ok, to be honest, if we find out about Satoshi's identity, it wont end up there, what comes next is the more interesting, maybe this is why I want to believe that this man is the right one.

I don't know, I was also thinking about that, if he is the right guy and if he had health issues at the same time when he left the project then this would explain allot of things....

Supposedly Dorians brother, just posted this on Reddit: http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/1zx2j3/dorian_satoshi_nakamoto_my_brother/Mis-quoting and blatant lies are unfortunately the journalistic world that exist today. I am just a humble handsome Asian man who is confused as to how a female asshole can become transferred onto my brother's rear end. But I saw with my own eyes from released video that there is a surgeon operating without an ethical or moral license to do exactly that. I and my immediate family were frightened due to obvious safety concerns, angered by our privacy being invaded and highly concerned over a gentle man trying, trying to recover from his life threatening health concerns. He was so private that he did not tell me when he was going through his health threats, only told me quietly when I visited the house in Temple City to take our mother for lunch. And I am his blood brother. I recall as a child that I looked up to Dorian who I believe is many times smarter than I am. He taught me at a toddler, protected me from harm and shared with me Manga, Japanese comic books and made up fantastic stories til I fell asleep. I am forever indebted to him in saving my life when I was 9 years old. I called the writer an asshole and told her to leave my brother alone but the whole world did not read that. Dorian can be stubborn and be an ass but then I am telling the whole world right here and now that I and 2 other people in the whole world can say that to him and we are forgiven by him. He can call me that too and has and maybe an idiot, but you know, he was probably right. How dare Leah demean and endanger my brother's health and safety and the safety of an 93 year old lady, our mother. Who is going to be responsible in their safety, her? I place her and Newsweek and all news organizations who joined in to be held responsible for their blatant and open carelessness. I understand that I will be mis-quoted and that I will be made out to be the brother who is the asshole remark guy. What I wanted to do is to plead to allow Dorian to live whatever life he has left to live it in dignity, peace and in private. To let him play with his trains and obsess over being treated to free lunches that he craves for some reason since his stroke. What's a real bitch (I am welling with tears right now) is that I cannot physically go to to see him and my mother to be of family support or call for fear of my immediate family being in physical danger. Odd! Who took care of Dorian's mother while he was in the hospital recovering from a stroke. Odd, still, that a brother, close or not, wasn't notified by him or some other sibling. I had a major accident on March first of this year, and within an hour all my siblings were aware of it, leaving me with nobody to tell... gulp! (rumor has it there's a thread on this forum on the subject) One does not recover from a stroke in a course of a small handful of weeks, ergo Ma Satoshi (I like the sound of that) had to have somebody take care of her given her age, hell, if it happened twenty years ago, she would still have been in her seventies.

The real sn probably knew Dorian personally. Dorian's work must have seeded the bitcoin project, which was probably not meant for release to open source.

Actually, no. I don't want to know who Satoshi is. I think the fact that his identity is unknown is just perfect. It forces people to focus on the invention (Bitcoin) instead of its creator. It prevents sloppy journalism which would make ad hominem attacks against its creator instead of criticizing Bitcoin itself. And finally his anonymity gives the whole thing an epic aura, it is the stuff of legends and history. Sometimes I tell people that the biggest reason why Bitcoin will proliferate and succeed in disrupting the status quo is the fact that no one knows who Satoshi is I might mean this more seriously than you might think.

my relatives have had strokes, some have had major strokes that disabled them. some had a stroke that just gave them numbness in one arm. when arriving in hospitl, doctors done tests, checked their bloods and released them home within 48 hours. whilst at home although the only physical issue was numbness which could be ignored/worked around enough to care for another person. their own health had to be taken care of in the form of blood thinning tablets and no stress. so dont presume a stroke victim needs wheelchairs or carers themselves. they sometimes just need stress free life. This brother's English is very very good, why is Dorian's not so good?
i am british english and i dont have perfect english. because my work does not depend on it. so lets take a engineer that plugs in telephone cables, network cables and writes safety applications for the aviation industry. coding grammer is not english grammer, so i can see why dorian would not have perfect 'oxford english' grammar.. compared to the bitcoin creator. as for his brother. he may work in a different environment. or even married a 'western' based wife and had white children. thus english grammar may be more essential. but in the end if your a retired 60yo playing with trains, would you really care about grammar.

Actually, no. I don't want to know who Satoshi is. I think the fact that his identity is unknown is just perfect. It forces people to focus on the invention (Bitcoin) instead of its creator. Indeed, and importantly, it also prevents us from turning to him to resolve or decide issues. Now, bitcoin and its control truly belongs to all of us collectively. I believe it is what he wanted and explains why he has stopped his involvement.

Fully agree. So it is probably good that trainspotter Dorian is distracting everyone who can't see that the invention is greater than the inventor.

Regardless of what some people calling for Bitcoin to be regulated and integrated into the old paradigm think, Bitcoin is part of a paradigm shift from hierarchical authoritarian organization towards decentralized egalitarian organization. This will happen simply because the technology is available. Sort of like Greshams law of societal organization. Bitcoin forces its users to educate themselves about money, value and security as well as learning to live with the fact that they, yes THEY have full control and thus full responsibility. We are not used to that and anything which makes us relapse into our old robotic ways of looking up towards authority figures for guidance, orders and security is not welcome.I don't want to attribute Godlike powers of insight and clarity to the original Satoshi, but the fact that he disappeared makes me think he understood this all too well. I would suggest to keep Satoshi hidden. The best way would be for each of us to claim we are Satoshi

I think one of the biggest things to realise here is that the mass media is involved... I'm just going to go way out on a limb now, but when I saw that picture of Dorian with his man-bag and cap, it reminded me of the keymaker (yes, the matrix again) and it got me thinking about Gox and the lost bitcoins and pretty soon after that, some big news came out about movement of 180000 Gox coins from cold storage... The blockchain is very similar to a train (read that brilliant observation in another post) and these are prominently featured in both stories... I doubt this is really Satoshi, but the story is very well spun, I think there are some bigger manipulations happening that a lot are not grasping and more players will enter the stage in coming days...

Yeah that's him, I made a comment about it days ago and those who didn't understand my 'train' of thinking were confused or called me names: Well, MK lost the bitcoins, but now they've located the keymaker, so it's looking good for the price... the question is whether they can make it back to the cold-storage on time... To be fair on them, that was before the Gox news, but I really think some bigger mind games are being played out on the mass media stage... P.S. Public keys, private keys, all these keys bitcoin is all about keys (it's a train of signed digital keys) and rumors have it that Mark lost the keys to the cold storage... who would you need to fix that situation I ask...
