As a newcomer, investment failure is not terrible, the terrible thing is scams. If the newcomer falls into the trap of scam at the beginning, it will destroy any trust of newcomers to crypto.
I used to have a lot of investment experience in investing in stocks, investing in futures, etc., but I have never seen any market with so many scams like crypto.
This is just a crypto beginners questioning the current crypto market. I don't think crypto is scam, but the current situation makes me angry.
If I am wrong, please point out,I am just a newcomer.

There is a tier above the scammy underworld. Once you learn how to recognise who and what operates at that level, crypto is not too bad. Of course there are all the usual risks that are associated with any currency, but they are not as tricky as the more sophisticated fiat scams supported by governments.

Scams unfortunately are inevitable, therefore, before you invest or get involved with a project do your research and then do more research. There are a few topics on here how to spot a scam, what questions to ask before investing and so on. Definitely try to get to know who the team is behind the project and ask all the questions you might have from the team and of course, if in doubt or even if not, talk to your fellow forum pals. I'm sure you have a lot of people here with a lot of experience and some of them are very good in spotting scammers from miles away  Wink

You are right, I know too little now.
Crypto is actually very interesting. I have never had such a big interest in a new thing before, I was just scared by so many scams, I will get used to it.
Thank you!

Yes, there is no shortage of detectives who expose scam. It is because of their work that many beginners avoid scams. I feel full of respect for their hard work and hope they can stick to it.
Just relying on the work of personal strength can not solve the root cause of scam, to make the entire market to become standardized, which require legal means.

Research is a must-have in any industry, let alone cryptocurrency niche. As previous posters said, do your own research and you will also find handy information here at Bitcointalk.org. There are more than a few topics on how to spot a fraudster(s) & scammer(s). On the other hand, there are many honest and reputable people and companies in this field. Once you get into it, the list of them will grow for you.

Unfortunately, it is rather exasperating for many, as there are simply too many pitfalls to make this a healthy attractive environment:

- ICO scams.
- Telegram scams (“angel” helpers/advisors, pumps & dumps, fake links, false admin impersonators providing fake wallet addresses for such an such, dumbo-traps (i.e. send me x and get 10x in return), etc.).
- Fake wallets (software and hardware).
- Fake sites.
- Phishing sites for cretentials.
- Keyloggers/viruses that target specifically crypto (to begin with).
- Hacked exchanges.
- etc. (the list goes on).

Even if you consider yourself a semi-intelligent being, and take your precautions, it’s not impossible to end-up getting into trouble at some point, regardless of how your investment goes (if you consider crypto an investment at all) or how much faith you have that crypto will really change things (although it sure takes it’s time).

The key is to be very wary and informed about it all, but even so there is no safe haven really, less of all in an environment that is pseudo-anonymous and barely legally covered. One enters this world at their own risk, but need to understand what they are up against in order to be able to put up some sort of defences…

Thanks for your reminder, these damn scammers, they are destroying the market.
I will understand more about these scmas, I will not retreat because of high risk here, I believe that as long as I keep a clear mind and a cautious attitude, no matter what kind of scams will not get 1 penny from me.
By the way, your reply is very helpful to me, I want to give you a meirt, I have received it, but I am showing 0 here now,do I have to wait for a while?

Actually, for every 2 merits you receive you will be able to award 1 sMerit, so you need to earn at least one more before being able to award sMerit to anyone. You do not have to wait out any time interval really.

Take a look at this post to understand some of the basics: Re: Who can award Merits. The number of Merits Sources is now different, although the way it all works is still the same.
Make sure you understand the difference between Merit (those that you receive and will never decrease, and are shown on your profile) and sMerit (those that you can send to another person, which are half of what you have received, and are shown only when you try to merit someone). They are two related but different concepts and counters.

P.D. I’d rather you merit (when the time comes) some other person on the forum (I’m well served as it is and have no operational use for them).

One of the reason why some newcomer won't stay in crypto because of scams that they may think that crypto will only take their hard earn fiat to lose in cryptoworld for investing or trading without vast knowledge on what to do when it comes to crypto. The only thing I can say is stay positive in crypto and you may achieve lots of achievements in crypto world from trash to success.

Scams are everywhere, we can't blame crypto because of the scams taking place in this industry. It is the duty of the person to get adequate information before taking any decision. It is observed that newbies don't spend much time before taking any investment decision but rely on the information fed by the scammer which is his first mistake and hence it is crucial to do on research irrespective of any situation. Crypto is all about self-responsibility and one should be held himself responsible for the consequences of occurring out of his own actions.

It's basically not only about the cryptocurrency world, scams are everywhere, even in the real world,at home, in the office, on any social media platform, banks etc..
Individuals are always trying to get the better out of some other person,to enrich themselves, its up to you not to let that happen..
The same definitely is applicable in this network, and as a beginner you'll need some tutoring on how scammers really operate, and what/what you shouldn't do..
IMO the basic rule is never to be greedy, greed leads about 75% of people into glaring scams..
Definitely with more time on the forum you'll learn how to evade such unscrupulous people(scammers)

Friend, don't be angry, isn't that normal? Why do we say that crypto is high risk? In addition to price fluctuations, too many scams are also high risk, all of which constitute the biggest feature of the crypto market: high risk and high profit.
Conversely, the most conservative benefit is deposit interest, which has low returns but low risk. Risk is always proportional to revenue, so since you have chosen crypto, you have to consider these risks first, and there is nothing to be angry about.

There are tiers in cryptoland.

If you buy Bitcoin from Coinbase or Gemini and place it in a Trezor you are immune from scams.

If you buy some piece of shitcoin put together by nobodies who ask you to download a totally unproven wallet from a one day old website, well you're leaving yourself wide open to attacks from multiple angles. That should be obvious to anyone who doesn't know the first thing about this area.

Any newcomer should arrive knowing that this is a total free for all filled with greed and desperation and people will always tell you what you want to hear. It's not going to change any time soon but at least there are solid options at the top unlike the earlier days.

More established posters do a good job of calling out blatant scum in the service sections. Very few have the time or inclination to dip into the cesspit that's the alt sections. There's way too much noise.

As we already knew that bounty and airdrop are very profitable that is the reason why there are some many scam. we must accept that it is a part of crypto world.

At this moment, bounty & airdrop are pretty much like a giveaway. You can get $1000 but you can also get $1 for months of participation. I'm definitely we enter a bear market because this will kill those low-quality projects and eventually leave only "good projects" in the market, and at the same time shake the weak hands from the market. I know some projects which go on and do their token sale regardless of how the market goes, which reflect their confidence.

The scam will always be there, but with more experiences, it's pretty much easy to tell whether someone will scam us or not. What I learn from blockchain is that we must always require proof, even if that comes from our dearest person. Money can turn things around.

As a crypto beginner as well I never tried risking so much at first.  I just started with $30-$50 and played with it until I got the hang of it.  It's good to start learning about charts as well to somehow help you in predictions (somehow)

Its true there was even more scams years back. The more Bitcoin is like wild west, the more scams there is.
Its still wild west so there will be scams, but scams are also in FIAT world. There is no week without newly discovered pyramid scheme around the world. People loosing millions of $ everyday due to scams.

If you know what you are doing, chances you will be scammed are slim to none.
