In Japan, the consumption tax will hike from 8% to 10% next October. The reason is a financial shortage on serious social security.

The national budget of Japan is 97.7rillion yen(≒860.293 billion US dollars. 1 dollar≒113 yen), and 32.9trillion yen is used for social security.
On the other hand, the tax revenue is only 59.07trillion yen, the shortage is covered by issuing government bonds, debt is increasing year by year.

In Japan, tax revenues for consumption tax are decided to be used for social security, but the tax revenue for consumption tax is 17.5 trillion yen. Currently it is not possible to cover the full amount necessary for social security.

It is said that if consumption tax hike 1% in Japan, tax revenue will increase 2 trillion yen. But there is still a shortage even if tax rate raise to 10%, and expenditure for social security will also increase with a declining birthrate and an aging population. So the shortfall will further increase and further tax increases will be required.

I think that it is necessary to tax hike to a certain extent, but it is better to reduce the expenditure on health insurance and to revise the tax system so that the people can asset management by investment etc. to prepare themselves for the future. I think it is more important.

What is the situation in your country? Is it similar to Japan? Which do you prefer the country with a high consumption tax and high welfare, or low tax and low welfare?

How about going back to the old idea of lower tax and better welfare. Most of the welfare payments are wasted on paying bankers, over-administration, the destruction of self-help communities, and the purchase of poisons from Big Pharma. It is no coincidence tht nations with the highest welfare payments have the worst heath records.

Japan's population demographic is unsustainable and it will not be able to figure this out unless it gets more people.  Lucky for them, there are plenty of refugees waiting to help solve their problem.  Japan's biggest challenge will be the choice between a economic stability or racist preservation of ethnic "purity".

Japanese will not accept refugees.  The refugees, especially from the Middle East, have nothing to offer to Japan.  Their average IQ is 30-40 points below the average IQ of the Japanse population.

I think that Japan will not accept refugees too. Also, if Japan accepts refugees, it will be difficult to live. Because language is difficult and closed culture. However, as the graph shows, Japanese society is unsustainable, because of declining birth rate and an aging population.

And as IQ is mainly genetic and not at all environmental and educational your statement is extremely relevant  Roll Eyes

Proof being that your IQ doesn't change at all during your life and education, that's why tests are the same through all your life  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

Regarding Europe and the EU member states, taxes support efficiently most part of the social services offered by the State. That’s why in some countries, mostly scandinavian, welfare is excellent and taxes are high. On the contrary, southern countries cannot deal with welfare expenditure even though taxes are also high. This means that modern states tax their people in a way that doesn’t correspond to a high quality welfare system. Can we agree that taxation and welfare have an irrelevant liaison? Then why don’t we pay more attention to projects that value the quality of the provided services? Those that don't wait from any government to implement the right measures but takes a proactive stances and forms an ecosystem where future societies can thrive. Fetchai, medicohealth, hinounou etc. offer solutions to almost all the problems of the healthcare sector. My point is: when will states start to adopt solutions that can be found in the cryptoworld without any further cost for the citizens?
