blockchain wallet access problem

hi community, im not exactly panicking yet, but am concerned ...

i have btc in a blockchain wallet, and have had them in there for a few years

im not all that savvy on tech stuff, but i think i mustve activated 2fa on it some time ago, as when i have accessed this wallet in the past i have entered my wallet id, the password, and then have to verify an email they send me before i can get in ...

well, all mustve been working fine back in feb, as i got in there so as to send some btc to my selling platform to sell some, all went well

but this past week, since the bch hard fork drama (i also have bch in this wallet, as i received it aug 1 last year) and the btc price plunge, when i try to access this wallet i am not receiving my email to verify, so i cant get in !!!

it's possible i may have changed my registered email for this wallet, but i dont think that's the case ...

it's crazy i cant get into my wallet because of a bloody email !!!

i tried about 3-4 days ago to contact blockchain support (sent a ticket) but havent heard from them !!!

re the private key/seed, is that the 12 word phrase or the 17 word phrase?

i think i know enough about electrum to try that

As far as i know, there is no BIP that generates 17 word seeds. It's probably the one with 12 words.

I'm not entire sure if Electrum supports the way Blockchain.info's seeds are derived by default. (BIP44?)

According to this SE, you'll need to tick >BIP39 seeds, and it should work. I'm fairly sure that that's indeed correct, although i haven't tried it myself.

These steps are for new Blockchain.info wallets based of BIP39 seeds.
If you have previously imported private keys to blockchain.info they have to be exported separately, as they are not part of the keys derived from the seed.

    1. Get your blockchain.info seed. Login to your blockchain.info account, click on 'Security Center' then click on 'Backup Phrase'. Be aware that onced the phrase is backed up, you won't be able to access it again on blockchain.info. So note it down carefully.

    2. Start Electrum, choose to restore a standard wallet, then restore from seed, enter your seed, then click options and check the 'BIP39 seed' box. -> Click Ok/Next.

    3. Blockchain.info follows the BIP 44 standard for derivation paths, so the default account has a derivation path m/44'/0'/0'/0

    4. You should now have migrated to Electrum.

I used blockchain.info wallet for years also. So I have some experience with it

As long as you have your 12 word , you are fine. Don't panic.

You have many good options:
-electrum is compatible with bip39, so it's compatible with blockchain.info. just insert your words there and you are fine.

- https://iancoleman.io/bip39/ - just insert your words there and generate each private key individually
. Remember to also check the change addresses, just need to put 1 in "internal/external" - this will generate other privatekeys which probably have funds.
To recover those funds, BTC and BTC and whatever you have, just scan those qrcodes with coinomi mobile wallet, very good wallet

-create a new blockchain.info wallet.

I am not sure how blockchain.com handles changing email addreses, but shouldn't you receive a mail where a change of your active email is stated?
Did you already check the spam folder ?

However, there are several good reasons not to use an online wallet (e.g. way larger attack surface).


I'd suggest downloading a bip39 compatible lightweight wallet (e.g. electrum) and to import your seed into it.
You will be able to access your funds.

Also, it would be better in terms of security and privacy to switch over to electrum completely by creating a new electrum wallet and sending all of your funds over there.
This will allow you to always access your funds without relying on a 3rd party.

It sounds strange that you should have changed your email address, are you sure that the confirmation mail is going in the right folder?
