Hello, i recently discovered a hard drive i had. To my surprise i found a backup of a bitcoin wallet i've taken back in 2009 in it, unfortunately after downloading the Bitcoin Core wallet i can't seem to remember my password.
I'm confident it's less than 12 Characters, it has something to do with dating, could be a date and a name etc. Whoever cracks this for me will receive 5 Bitcoins and a sum from the forks.

Hash:
Code:
$bitcoin$64$50bb9ef9cad87bf2b865b060e80c72c52f5ff496dbefa0bcfc6c3b5e0b86050e$16$f63cb4696e604d94$128289$96$216799ff12f9f8cee79295c4f3532127772961ad35c5914dad349086016fba386147eca1d7064b2ef432c64c7fd7a022$130$04f9f7d18f6262010cd24bc8414bbd15a61396ef817bc7f3c64a200db3c9aec9f4bbf891b7e520386862f0c17aae7d0bdb65d005e19295bdf1aef6834ddd36edc8

[quoting the image]

Why don't you try to make a signed message with the btc address 18jANvQ6AuVGJnea4EhmXiAf6bHR5qKjPB here for that.

Also, you can use this tool (btcrecover) to recover your password since you have the .dat (considering the backup you mentioned) file https://github.com/gurnec/btcrecover
Here's the tutorial https://github.com/gurnec/btcrecover/blob/master/TUTORIAL.md#btcrecover-tutorial

I just tried signing a message, it asks me for password. I tried btcrecover with no success, thanks.

If you search on the Internet you will find that the source of this image is [Image here [1] [2]]
I remember that someone did the same thing a while ago.
I do not know what is special at that address.
In general, guessing a 12-character password might take tens of years by using a regular computer, and a shorter period using powerful processors. "Billing will be more than 5 BTC."

Someone's trying their luck though.

I never used core but I wonder if it's a watch only address only?

I tried btcrecover with no success, thanks.
Then unfortunately, its likely that it can't be recovered.

Why don't you try to make a signed message with the btc address
how could he sign it if he doesn't remember the passphrase?
if he could sign a message then he can also sign transaction to move the bitcoin Cheesy

If you search on the Internet you will find that the source of this image is [Image here [1] [2]]
and someone selling the same wallet on this forum too
wallet.dat 30 btc 2009
I will sell 4 different wallet.dat from Bitcoin Core with lost passwords.

Yup, unfortunately I don't use core, so that's what I thought right after I opened my electrum with password protected. And anyway, seems OP is trying his luck only with the wallet he never own.

You’re asking for help in the wrong place. If this is true, then you shouldn’t be exposing it to people cause anyone who is able to crack it might also be able to transfer the 5 BTC to a different wallet which belongs to them. So you’re taking risk by posting this here, unless maybe you’re a scammer too, cause I’ve seen something like this before.
Read the first replies, it's been mentioned that it's weird that OP is not the only owner of the said address, from post of hugeblack. So whaddya think?

Guys, let's report this thread to the mods so they may lock it since it is clearly a scam / thief attempt let's not make this a long thread of newbie fucktards posting without reading whats written already.. (i'm reporting)

Dear, what is the fraud here? If a new user, it means he is a fraud? Or do you judge other people by yourself? I just want to contact the person to try to help him. Of course, not disinterested. I'm not an altruist, but I'm not a fraud. Other users have written a lot here. And that anyone helped him? Apparently not. According to the hash that he posted here, you can only get the password, but you can not spend bitcoins. But without the password the wallet.dat, it's just a junk file. And not the fact that he is the real owner of this wallet.dat, the hash of which he asks to be decrypted. That's what I wanted to find out. I have an idle mining farm with six Radeon RX 580 graphics cards. Mining on it is not profitable. And with it, I've already decrypted several other wallet.dat. So it is not necessary, not understanding at once to hang the label. Rather, the site you are advertising here is a Scam.
