Found an article purporting to prove that it does, but not sure if I believe:

https://decryptmedia.com/2018/11/28/infographic-how-crypto-news-generates-fake-ripple-hype/

Have always thought this, though—Ripple, according to the shittest of the shittest crypto sites, is literally ALWAYS "poised to rally" or whatever, and it never does. Yeah, it's the best performing crypto, but the hype that swirls around it (and other currencies) is, like, 90% fabricated.

Well I would say that ripple was probably the most bought coin by people who entered the cryptocurrency market in 2017. Since then there have been a number of crypto related news sites that have popped up that were not around from 2013-2016 so it makes sense that these website owners may be ripple holders.

Ripple has one of the most active subreddits also, its no surprise that news is blown out of proportion because there are a ton of bagholders.

Now this doesn't mean XRP is a shitcoin, far from it, even though it generates alot of hype it still is a viable crypto for the future.

And do not forget that they are using bank-kind of a system with an authority behind them, I am pretty sure the governments are supporting this kind of project instead of Bitcoin itself.
It is very easy to control such a project with an authority behind it compared to a project that does not have someone to control over in the back.

A few weeks ago, I read an article stating that a certain project has "smashed" their ICO! Only to learn that it was all just for PR to entice more investors. So yes, some cryptocurrency news are being used by some projects to generate fake hype.

i never purchased xrp ever beacuse investing in xrp is just like making fun of decentralization. but it seems that it was the best coin to make handsome ammount of money.. xrp is not just hyped crypto but bank related institution likes to adopt xrp rahter than btc or eth so it is not losing its value very low

I will talk generally here and my personal opinion is that the news media is mostly biased and that may be due to paid shilling or personal likings while we also know same media cam also create fud and negativity for a certain coin or overall market which effects market badly, i think news and media industry should become rational and avoid manipulating the markets.

I do think XRP was the most bought coin by people who don't really do their research on various cryptos.

1.) XRP is cheap and it attracts people

2.) Many media outlets always write about banks using Ripple's network, but really many people got misled because they assumed banks using XRP, the token itself, which it isn't true.

3.) Bitcoin and Ethereum are too expensive to own one coin, but XRP isn't so people like the idea of having multiple coins for $100. Plus XRP is at #2 overall market cap now.

I do not think the hypes are caused by the news, if that is the case, then 2018 would be th best year for crypto currency
Why ?

There are more fantastic and fascinating news in 2018, and it keps on dumping, it is sending out a message of patience and long term investment
thus, invest in  valuabke longest term project.

I believe that that crypto is so flexible which and easily controlled by just what people's says or write up properly on Twitter, Facebook and many others platforms and you will find out that people are quickly to react to the news and start changing things either up way or down.
the dumping some days ago is because the new of worse are yet to happen to bitcoin is all what people keep saying and after that you see people start selling in other not to be left out.

The bad holders of ripple would never say this is a bad coin but but faketoshi doesn it. lol It's a coin without any usefulness that i can't get it from hold my ripple.
Ripple was following the news about the development and it never give any use case. Basically this coin is almost a security.

Obviously, if you have the usual news articles spreading FUD and negative news about cryptocurrencies, you'll also encounter the opposite.

Every news outlet has their own agenda, some would rather spread negativity no matter the state of the market, some others are going to release bullish articles in order to either calm down the average joe who doesn't know what's going on, and then you also have those sites who create fake hype around a certain coin to encourage people to invest in it.

Yeah, it's the best performing crypto, but the hype that swirls around it (and other currencies) is, like, 90% fabricated.
Some news site have a bit of an influence within the community (I'd say mostly newbies), it wouldn't be uncommon to find that the teams behind X or Y coin are paying a big sum to these website to release a bullish article or to create hype, it's all part of the shady marketing campaign of a cryptocurrency.

The internet is a place for you to voice out freely what you want to say about it that's why it's hard to distinguish what's real and what is not true. Since crypto is being girded by personalities that are popular people this is also a factor why cryptos goes up and down.

We only can prevent or take profit with that. Actually, if we already know what they purpose, we can do something that can make us gain some money. Profit is one people look in trading activity, don't forget about that.

News is very influential on not experienced traders and investors. News creates psychological pressure. But I do not think that Bitcoin and other high-quality cryptocurrencies are a fake hype.

This is the reality of cryptocurrency based on its decentralized system, that we can't control every thing here.  News were being fabricated to make things look good.  There's nothing we can do to stop this kind of news article,  but we can ignore them.

For the case of XRP,  has the reason to grow in terms of market cap due to some banks are testing it's platform.  That is a big boost to their innovations.

The Internet is open, no one and stop the hype, unless it breaks the law. XRP's hype this year is particularly powerful, and many news said that they have cooperated with Doka large companies. Perhaps the future cryptocurrency is concentrated.
