Hello. Need advice:

I've been talking with a guy for a few months from Facebook, about 6 weeks ago he persuaded me to do some Bitcoin Cloud Mining. He had me purchase 0.1BTC to start mining with and said that each mining cycle would last 300 hours, around 2 weeks. Also that I wouldn't be able to withdraw anything for the first three cycles.
After the first cycle, he then told me I had to deposit another 0.1BTC for that and another for the third cycle. He never told me I'd have to do that at the very beginning. But I would have mined 1.0BTC by the end of the three cycles. He also has my password. Said he needed it any back when I joined Blockchain, so that he could authorize me. he has been in regular contact, which has led me to believe and trust him.

Today the third mining cycle was complete so I should be able to withdraw. He is telling me now that I should get a block reward of 12.5BTC (received an email from a Gmail address saying this), but to withdraw anything, I have to deposit 5.8% of the non-spendable amount in my Blockchain. 5.8% of 13.5BTC is 0.783 (over $3200). An amount that I do not have. And I'm not paying this because I really don't know if I trust this guy.

Is this a scam? I have a bad feeling about this email coming from a Gmail address. And 12.5BTC as a reward seems way too good to be true.
I currently have 0.77BTC as non-spendable in my Blockchain. Should I change my password and keep that in there?
Thanks!

To make the long story short, you've been fooled and it's obviously a scam. Cloud mining is a scam, especially if it's coming from one's person on facebook.

And that 0.77BTC non-spendable in your blockchain account can't be withdrawn since it's only watch-only address. It's a modus of scammers way back 2017 or even the last few years.

Advice?
You should stay away to anyone who offers you an investment with such high profit for such a short period of time from any social media sites, especially on facebook and twitter.
Learn from your mistakes dude.

Everything you've written looks like a classic scam, unfortunately. However, to make sure you have to provide links to cloud mining, or at least explain what "your blockchain" means.
The prize of 12.5 BTC is a general prize for the entire pool. It is practically impossible for a single person to do this.
I am sorry, but it is a scam at 99.9%, or you have made mistakes when describing this situation.

Thanks for the replies! Confirms what I thought. Glad I didn't waste anymore money on this. When I say "My Blockchain", I meant my Blockchain account.

So, the non-spendable amount, there is absolutely no way to obtain this? Not even the amount that I invested.

Cloud mining isn't always a scam but it will usually be unprofitable.  If it was a risk free business that made easy profits they wouldn't have to search far and wide for new investors.  If you want to invest in crypto you should just mine the coins yourself and if you don't have access to cheap electricity just buy the coins.

Yes, since bitcoin is non-reversible you can't get it back unless that scammer gives it back to you which is unlikely to happen.

Abandon your blockchain account, don't use it again. Changing password is useless since he gets the 12-word recovery phrase of that wallet for sure. And that, he can access your wallet anywhere he like even you change the email and the password of that account.

If you try to gain a high profit in a short time, you are open to be scammed. Nobody can really offer such a high profit, especially these times that we are experiencing bear market. You'r a lucky man for not losing your saving. Be careful and start to use your brain.

99 percent of cloud mining is scam and the only mining that is profitable is the one that you alone run and monitor yourself, other than that any group promising you a fixed return for mining for you is scam.

it's obviously scam. I wish you had done a little digging before sending your BTCs to the scammer. Since tha amount is already in the hands of the scammer, there is no way of obtaining it back since BTC transactions are irreversible once confirmed

Don't feel you have lost everything, it's an experience you have learnt from and hopefully in the near future you won't be easily fooled again

yes, you have to change your password, it will secure your assets, you should be careful, when you get BTC easily, you must suspect the results.

Didn't making 1 btc with only 0.3 btc in 900 hours make you suspicious? It takes like 300 days to break even then you only profit. Come on man think a bit. You losing your money.
I hope you never gave him more then 0.1 btc

Just because he is in contact doesn't mean anything. I also find it odd that if you in contact with him so much that you never questioned him?

What made me curious is how did you end up talking to this guy (for a few months) in the first place?

And 12.5BTC as a reward seems way too good to be true.
When you have this feeling you already know that the situation won't end well.

There's no point in changing the password, bl4nkcode already mentioned that it's a watch only address even if OP did change it his "friend" most likely have a backup. This type of scam has been going on for a while now and everyone should be more cautious before trusting people right away.

Seems like you have been scammed by people who you don't know.
Investing your money to cloud mining is risky, especially with a high return of investment.
It is better to investing on your own mining rigs, so you can control and monitor the income of your money.

Being fool is the one why you're scam, scammers are just waiting for the chance to scam people who did not know everything about it.

Thanks!

Ugh, definite scam. Cloud mining is very scammy in itself, but this guy even asked for more money in the process, and promised an impossible return. Why you didn't ask for this kind of thing here BEFORE committing your money?

Back in the day when Gavin Andresen was still the lead maintainer for Bitcoin, he made the statement that ALL Cloud mining operations were Ponzi schemes and thinking back at that now, I have to agree with him. The fact that you had to inject more money with every so-called cycle confirms this, because these Ponzi schemes rely on new capital to fund their older pay-outs. <He was just funding payments to other people that he fooled too, with your money>

I hope this is a lesson to other people who wants to invest in these types of schemes.  Angry

How can you fall for this?you've been fooled and ultimately been scammed ,most cloud mining are scammy even the certified ones are not profitable ,I remember back in the days ,you have to wait for one and half year to make a profit on hashflare or Genesis mining ,stay away from anyone telling you that they can help you make profit ,they are total scammers
