I reported a few "great project" posts but after checking the thread, 100% of all posts in 16 pages is a Newbie bump spam.

Haha, just posted the same in my thread a second ago Cheesy
I think it's gonna be trashed soon. Reported it.
Another bull# Airdrop, filled for two days with 16 + pages with Good projet spam.
Reported a few, I'll report the whole thread at the end.  If anyone wants to join you are most welcome Wink
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5079460.0

BTW, based on the rules, the OP is breaking this rule :

You can do giveaways off-site and link to the giveaway page in a thread, but you can't give people any bonus for replying to your thread.

And all those posting bull# are breaking this rule :

Quote
Anyone posting info from their bounty application (usernames, addresses, etc.) or anything alongside the lines of "joined X", "looking forward to getting X", "thanks for the opportunity", "filled out form", "signed up for X", "applied", "following / liked / retweeted X" when such data is not required or the requirement is against the forum's rules risk having their account banned. These are extremely low quality posts that generate massive amounts of spam, drowning out any legitimate discussion these threads may posses.

after checking the thread, 100% of all posts in 16 pages is a Newbie bump spam
This is precisely why I gave up on visiting any of the altcoin sections.  I was acting as a bitcointalk vigilante for a short time, reporting those "great project" posts, but there are so many accounts making them and the sheer number of those types of posts being made is mind-numbing--and very frustrating when you're trying to report them all.

You could easily focus just on one ANN thread, make 100 reports, and then come to the realization that there are about 200 more threads which are being bumped with the same kind of spam.  There really needs to be multiple mods there who actively patrol new posts to see if they pass the sniff test of being legitimate vs. being bump-spam.  In fact, even if there were 3 mods working in 8 hour shifts doing nothing but that, it probably still wouldn't be enough.

The scope of the problem is mind-boggling to me.  This is why Theymos needs to tighten up the rules for bounty managers & project developers and/or create new rules.  The whole altcoin section is nothing but a shitfest, and it's starting to infect the rest of the forum.

A minimum requirement of Jr member or copper member to enable anyone start a thread in the bounty section could help reduce the number of spam and fake ANN threads, as this would reduce the ease of users simply creating accounts and making such threads.

And maybe if a profile gets their post reported multiple times in that section, they could be temporarily restricted from posting, automatically before a moderator even gets to access the situation.

It may work like what you think and it might not work. Even though it's restricted from newbies and only jr. members and above who can post thread is another idea as they can send 1 merit to their new account and become jr. member later on.
