We need something that doesn't rely on third parties or banks to issue and transact with it so they or the powers that be can't meddle or censor the people who use it who they don't like. It doesn't necessarily have to be bitcoin either, but since it has been invented I think there will always be decentralized currency in some form or another and even many fiat currencies will likely become digital in the future with their own blockchains -- but they will likely still be centralized and issued by a central bank which would certainly defeat the original purpose of bitcoin but there's nothing we can do about that other than keep using the currencies we believe in.

I also think there is a real need for a worldwide or border-less currency and bitcoin -- or something like it -- would be a good candidate for that.

1. It is not backed / controlled / manipulated by any centralized entity.
2. It is feasible to do a trade between two parties anonymously
3.One world, One currency.
