Maybe OP needs to put one more column with "Last Active:"
Most of the top haven't been online for quite some time and probably will not come back, like Satoshi and Hal.

It is a common myth that Bitcoin is ruled by a majority of miners. This is not true. Bitcoin miners "vote" on the ordering of transactions, but that's all they do. They can't vote to change the network rules.
Advertised sites are not endorsed by the Bitcoin Forum. They may be unsafe, untrustworthy, or illegal in your jurisdiction.

In addition, merit sources will deplete their source sMerit before their personal sMerit, and so could appear on this list despite giving hundreds of source sMerit.

The OP doesn't know how much the sources have spent from their allocation vs their earned sMerits, so I'm guessing all of their spending will be subtracted making merit sources less likely to appear on this list.

Op can't know how sMerit have sources or how much airdropped merit a source had in the past since those data are private and can't be find anywhere (They can't find only log in the account, maybe admins can see these data with admin privileges).
The only thing that Op can do is:

[Received merits(-1 if odd number)/2] - Sent merits = merits on Bags.

Yes he needs to put -1, since every 2 merits we have 1 merit generated and we can't have 0.5 merit on bags.

Looking closer at the list this seems exactly what he has done, completing ignoring airdropped and source sMerit, which seems confirmed by comments like Jet Cash's and LoyceV's which state they have hundreds of sMerits available yet do not appear on the list at all.

Given that this information is private, I'm not sure there is a way to fix OP's list. As I mentioned before, I also don't think it is fair to list merit sources and people who have earned the most merit, who have given out hundreds or even thousands of merits, as being the most "selfish" because they still have a handful of merits still to give.

There is another point. You aren't selfish because you don't give money to lazy beggars, but use it to help people to improve their lives by working.

It's not gonna be thousands. The most-merited person is LoyceV (satoshi and theymos obviously don't count) with 1319. So that's 859 sMerits if we include airdrop. LoyceV has sent a lot more than 859 so he's not on the list even though he does have remaining sMerits. The list is skewed favorably for merit sources.

I would also argue that at this point (10 months into the merit system and 3 months after the latest expansion) most merit sources should have spent their sMerits to the point where the OP's score would be zero. There is no reason to hoard sMerits except perhaps for below-average source allocations keeping a certain reserve of earned sMerits might make sense.

You aren't selfish because you don't give money to lazy beggars, but use it to help people to improve their lives by working.

I don't go out of way to hunt for merited posts like some users, but I will merit anything I come across that I think is deserving. I took heed of theymos' post a few months ago to increase - since I increased my base merit award from 1 to 2, my amount of available sMerit has been steadily decreasing from above 100 to the 50 or so it is at currently. As you say, I don't see the need to start meriting subpar posts just because I've been named and shamed as being "selfish".

It's not gonna be thousands.

I was including source merit in my statement. There are currently 22 users who have given out over 1000 merit, and many more who have give out hundreds. If OP somehow obtained data regarding source merit and edited his list to reflect this, many of these "most generous merit senders" would appear on his list as being selfish.

Following the same criteria as in the OP, there are a total of 7.666 users with at least 1 positive available sMerit, adding up to a total of 37.464 sMerits (the original top 200 on the OPs list add up to 11.906 sMerits). We also know that the list cannot take into full consideration the airdropped sMerit, nor the Merit Source originated sMerits (thus all the main Merit Sources have a negative Available Merits score).

Now If the initial sMerit airdrop was of 600K (as per @theymos’s post from a while back), and the currently (as of last Friday) total of sent sMerits is of 274.008, then really the 11.906 sMerits on the OP list are a drop in the ocean comparted to all the theoretical available sMerit forum wide:

 600.000      sMerits Initial Airdrop
-274.008     sent sMerits (Merit Sources and regular forum members)
+137.000    Min estimate generated (first halving taken to its maximum theoretical degree, and not accounting for all the other halvings which I cannot estimate)
--------------------------------------------
462.992   Total unsent sMerits (*)

We could also add an additional for what the Merit Source aggregate pool may have now, but I don’t want to venture (although we could say at least another 5K-10K sMerits).

Now of course this is a rough estimate, and not all is sendable (inactive users, banned users, etc), but it kind of puts the 11.906 sMerits from the list in the 2,57% area of the total unsent amount of sMerit … Just the tip of the iceberg really. This is more important to me than a nominal shortlist in this case.

I'd like to add that I think most merit sources spend their allocation within a few days. I know I try to do this, because I know that more will arrive tomorrow. If I run short, then I can always spend some from my personal merit bag. This is how I can honour merit promises, even when I have "spent" all my source merits. I think that Theymos stated that if sources hoarded their source merits, then he would remove them, or stop renewing them anyway.

Since the new dump of merit transactions has already been published a few hours ago, I updated my post on the first page.

These users are banned and cannot distribute sMerits:

Hal, laszlo, TERA2, pitipawn, niknik1966, zentdex, SeverusSnegg, wex.nz, oracleongoodbye.

Thanks for the information. I checked them on the BPIP service made by Vod. It seems that most of them have only been locked. I added zentdex, wex.nz and oracleongoodbye to the list of banned users.

a list of members who have but do not give merits to others.

I think you maybe need to rephrase this. There are people on that list like hilariousetc and DdmrDdmr who have given away hundreds of merits, but because they have earned so many they still have lots available to give. You can't really say that people who are on the list of most generous merit givers of all time are also on the list of people who do not give merit.

You're right. hilariousetc and DdmrDdmr earned and distributed a lot of merits. Therefore I edited this sentence. I added the word "immediately".

Maybe OP needs to put one more column with "Last Active:"
Most of the top haven't been online for quite some time and probably will not come back, like Satoshi and Hal.

satoshi, Hal, laszlo, GameKyuubi are ones of the most famous persons in the cryptocurrency world. I think that there is no need to mark their current inactivity on the forum.

The only thing that Op can do is:

[Received merits(-1 if odd number)/2] - Sent merits = merits on Bags.

Yes he needs to put -1, since every 2 merits we have 1 merit generated and we can't have 0.5 merit on bags.

I use the following formula:

Code:
AVAILABLE_sMERITS = floor(RECEIVED_MERITS / 2) - SENT_MERITS

"floor()" is a mathematical function:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Floor_and_ceiling_functions

floor(1 merit / 2) = floor(0.5 merit) = 0 merit
floor(2 merit / 2) = floor(1 merit) = 1 merit

How is the "max" calculated?

"Max" is the all-time high of the amount of sMerits a user has ever had. It is a peak value of the chart.

It’s a rather "unfair" list in my opinion in relation to the objective ("list of members who have but do not give merits to others"), penalizing the greatest Receivers who may in turn be some of the greatest Senders. The list also shows people with barely available 20-30 sMerits, which is not that much really.

Obviously, your merit distribution policy is even and fair. I think that it is normal to have some reserve of sMerits.

600.000      sMerits Initial Airdrop
-274.008     sent sMerits (Merit Sources and regular forum members)
+137.000    Min estimate generated (first halving taken to its maximum theoretical degree, and not accounting for all the other halvings which I cannot estimate)
--------------------------------------------
462.992   Total unsent sMerits (*)

This is really a huge amount of unsent sMerits.

Look like you mixed locked+banned as banned.
As far I know theymos locked the "Hal" account , did not banned him. Nor did I ever read that laszlo was banned nor bpip says so.

I kept his account unlocked because I thought his family members might want to look at his PMs or something, but this is looking like his account was almost certainly compromised. So I locked his account.

The person who controls his account gained access via email-password-reset, so his email is probably also compromised.

Weekly update.

I added statistics on the total amount of sMerits earned by all users.

600.000      sMerits Initial Airdrop
-274.008     sent sMerits (Merit Sources and regular forum members)
+137.000    Min estimate generated (first halving taken to its maximum theoretical degree, and not accounting for all the other halvings which I cannot estimate)
--------------------------------------------
462.992   Total unsent sMerits (*)

This is really a huge amount of unsent sMerits.

I summarized the amount of all earned sMerits. Currently 7786 users have 38462 available sMerits. Of course, not all of these sMerits can be sent, because some of them are held by banned users.

Total of 7786 users have 38462 earned sMerits:
  • 434 Legendaries have 6359 (17%) sMerits
  • 294 Hero Members have 3250 (8%) sMerits
  • 460 Sr. Members have 4392 (11%) sMerits
  • 830 Full Members have 5928 (15%) sMerits
  • 2645 Members have 13870 (36%) sMerits
  • 3123 Jr. Members have 4663 (12%) sMerits

I doubt that zentdex got permanent ban!
He made great constructive topics, so I don't believe that he got banned.

I will start my own topic for tracking users earned lots of merits, then turned into last active (busy, leave the forum, permanent bans, and other reasons).

We are practically are on the same page in terms of aggregate minimum current stored sMerit: I make it a few more, 38.446 in the hands of 7.785 forum members, which is very near your figures. We do seem to differ though in terms of distribution by rank:
Code:

It’s strange, since I updated my rank information yesterday (rank derived from user profile, and only Copper Member has been stripped to equivalent real rank). I make it that there are 1.009 Newbies with 2.873 sMerits, which I’d say are merged in your Jr. Member rank level.

Not quite on topic, but I feel bad. I've not been very active over the last few days, and my source merits have been stacking up. I'll need to have a merit awarding blitz tomorrow, and get them down to an approved level.

We really could do with the ability to delegate merits - especially to some of the local boards.

My post on the first page has been updated.

According to statistics, the total number of sMerits earned by all members increases by about 400 each week.

In my opinion, there is no need to delegate merits. theymos has already delegated sMerits to you for distributing them among the members, because you are a trustful merit source and contribute to the forum well.

I wish you good health.

Yes, these ranks are based on the amount of merits regardless of current activity.

I was actually surprised to see the difference between our overall statistics. It seems that my total number of users who have sMerits is greater by one than your total number. Therefore I compared my file containing all merit transfer transactions to the "merit.all.txt" file made by LoyceV.

I noticed that the following transaction is missing in the "merit.all.txt" file:
Code:
1531821834	50	2674194.msg36115570	554	516296

As far as I can see, the red tagged user #516296 named as Storx started with 100 merits, received 133 merits and now has 233 merits. I guess that this transaction has not been deleted and should be restored in the "merit.all.txt" file. In this case our overall statistics will be equal.

Ok, I got how your ranks are calculated (virtual merit ranks, not current profile rank).

I recall there being three TXs undone by @theymos due to a clear hack+hacker abuse, awarded by Elwar's account while hacked. The TXs that got reversed are the following three, all performed on the 17/07/2018:

3286845.msg34284719      1531821996   50
2674194.msg36115570      1531821834   50 (the one you reference)
4416705.msg39872242      1531804428   50

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4708873.msg42558257#msg42558257

Those 3 TXs where reverted by @theymos at the time. Anyway, being off a couple of TXs between external non-official DBs is not really much of an issue really.

Weekly update.

This week all forum members have accumulated another 515 sMerits.

Those 3 TXs where reverted by @theymos at the time. Anyway, being off a couple of TXs between external non-official DBs is not really much of an issue really.

As far as I know, theymos never published the file "merit.all.txt". He regularly publishes the file "merit.txt.xz" which contains the latest transactions of merit transfer. I agree that those 2 transactions have been deleted/reverted.

Let's manually calculate the amount of merits received by Storx. Roll Eyes

At first, he was a Full Member on January 24, 2018, so he received 100 airdropped merits. Let's assume that he also received 7 sMerits that is the maximal amount of sMerits airdropped on a Full Member.

I will use data from the resource made by LoyceV:
http://loyce.club/Merit/history/516296.html

Quote
Feb 8, 01:30:58 - Storx received 20 merit from crazydane (and has 7 + (20 / 2) = 17 sMerits)
Feb 26, 23:44:33 - Storx received 1 merit from philipma1957 (and has 17.5 sMerits)
Feb 27, 01:17:36 - Storx received 1 merit from vapourminer (and has 18 sMerits)
Mar 3, 22:05:08 - Storx received 1 merit from vapourminer (and has 18.5 sMerits)
Mar 5, 18:54:06 - Storx received 1 merit from vapourminer (and has 19 sMerits)
Apr 6, 11:19:00 - Storx received 5 merits from deadsix (and has 21.5 sMerits)
Apr 6, 14:34:53 - Storx received 1 merit from vapourminer (and has 22 sMerits)
Apr 16, 03:44:39 - Storx received 1 merit from philipma1957 (and has 22.5 sMerits)
Apr 19, 00:39:48 - Storx received 1 merit from vapourminer (and has 23 sMerits)
Jul 17, 10:03:54 - Storx received 50 merits from Elwar
Jul 17, 16:59:01 - Storx received 15 merits from viboracecata (and has 30.5 sMerits)
Jul 18, 10:09:07 - Storx received 6 merits from dndssc (and has 33.5 sMerits)
Jul 18, 10:10:37 - Storx received 3 merits from mRasika (and has 35 sMerits)
Jul 18, 20:32:50 - Storx received 3 merits from rod1234 (and has 36.5 sMerits)

Jul 19, 09:15:45 - Storx received 11 merits from vindicare
Jul 19, 21:25:56 - Storx received 3 merits from kyori

On Jul 18, 20:38:10, Storx had a negative amount of sMerits. Is he a merit source? Of course, not.

Now let's exclude the "deleted" transaction and summarize the amount of merits received by Storx:

Code:
20 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 5 + 1 + 1 + 1
+ 15 + 6 + 3 + 3 + 4 + 11 + 3 = 83 merits

Let's look at his forum profile:

I don't get it Sad
Did you check the other 2 involved users too? My merit.all.txt is based on theymos' data dump. Each week, I overwrite the past 113 days with the most recent 120 days. I didn't remove those 3 transactions that theymos did manually. That means they were removed from theymos' data dump at the time.

If you want to search deeper, I have saved these data dumps after downloading. Let me know which one you want:

Only one contains the deleted Merit transaction:
Code:
merit.download.2018-07-20_Fri_07.16h.txt:1531821834     50      2674194.msg36115570     554     516296

Could it be theymos removed the transaction, but not the Merit and sMerit added to Storx' account?
